Death has 7 lives they remember most
God and Lucifer see Death get attached to their job too much and they’ve come to collect them
death is the last soul on earth and the Big Men don’t know it’s him
Prologue
7 chapters separate for each life
1st life = curiosity takes them and death experiences sadness for the first time
2nd life = they were busy during the wars but they felt their first burnout
3rd life = death experiences hatred for the first time as more and more people turn on each other
4th life = death gets a letter from god; congratulating them on their work for the past few millennia; Life also congratulates them; Death is bitter
5th life = death falls in love, or the closest thing to it
6th life = 2019-2020; the pandemic that polarized an already polar world, death stops reporting to heaven and hell; they are tired
7th life = Lucifer and God meet to discuss reasons why death, someone so punctual and responsible, has stopped properly doing their job. Death is currently taking care of a child; they want Life’s job.
- 8th chapter: Lucifer and God find out about this and decide it’s too risky. But to take on Death? Something that has been in existence much longer than any of them? To remedy this, they end civilization. They don’t take on Death, they take on humanity.
9th chapter: civilization crumbles; people start getting sick again; natural disasters take out countries; governments call a global emergency but lives go away one by one as holy water rains from the sky to burn flesh and hellfire sweeps nations to finish the job.
10th chapter: Life comes to inform Death; who was scrambling to document, lead and lay to rest billions of souls. The two being the only true natural beings since the universe has started, Life looks out for Death (and begrudgingly vice versa). Death kills the child they were taking care of and inhabits her body. There’s a moment of sadness and it turns to anger. They want to save humanity.
11th chapter: Life sits back as they are no longer needed. It is no longer their job. But Life wonders why Death is so determined to do this. Why Death is so much more human than what they were supposed to be. Caring was foreign to Life. Since the universe came into being, Death and Life were given a job and they stick to it. If civilization goes away, it’s not like they would so why was Death so determined?
12th chapter: Civilization is ended within 2 weeks. God and Lucifer land on the remains of what once was and are surprised to see a little girl walking up to them. She was Death but God and Lucifer did not know that. God kindly asks her to kill herself for the sake of balance in the world and Lucifer tries to damn her soul only to realize she didn’t have one.
13th chapter: Death asks why and a battle commences between 3 of the 5 biggest forces of the universe (God, Lucifer, Death, Life and Time). They try to convince Death to accept it; it’s not like they’re out of a job or anything. They say something bad about humans and slander the little girl Death was caring for and Death snaps. Death leaves the body and fights them with all their being. God and Lucifer retreat as Life comes in to help Death. Fundamentally, to not defend life goes against Life.
Ending chapter - Death and Life sit back to back after God and Lucifer have left. It reminds them of when the universe started a long time ago. Life looks at the little girl and gives her back her life. Time makes an appearance (they are to fix the damage that was done). They commend the efforts but one little girl’s soul will not bring back Civilization; Time can tell. But Life laughs, “as long as I exist, civilization can be rebuilt; humanity, however, is eternal.” Also, Time can literally just turn back but they’re a little slow.
Epilogue - Time is convinced and says they’ll lend a hand the next time Heaven and Hell decide to end humanity.
