The story takes place in London, England, where sally in her 5th grade is seen crying in the bathroom. Her mother comes to pacify her and inquire why she was crying. She kept mute and stopped crying after her mum pacified her. Sally and Ivy are best friends who went to the same elementary and middle school. They both applied for admission at Harvard university, but only Ivy got in. Sally then proceeded to London school of Economics. There she met Derrick whom she feel in love with. Derrick in his third year met Sally in her first year in the school . They were friends in her first year and started dating in her second year. Sally’s parents are African Americans . They met in Atlanta, Georgia. Her father got a job as a janitor at West Inland Corporation, he worked there for years and was later promoted to the head of janitors. Sally’s mother is a full time housewife, who loves cooking and who’s meals taste very good Sally goes on a date with Derrick, his family insist she spends the night at theirs. That night sally lost the most precious thing to her and was forced to face the ordeals of life by herself in the big mansion. Rituals were performed to welcome her into the family. What was meant to be a peaceful sleep over became a nightmare to sally. Sally now lived with two scars in her heart , unable to tell anyone except her diary which she guarded like her life. Sally met Jordan, her high school crush. They became best of friends. Jordan was also her high school senior ,Jordan is also Derrick’s best friend. Derrick started to get jealous about Sally’s closeness to Jordan. He threatened to kill Jordan if he didn’t leave sally alone. As the story unfolds, Ivy started having an affair with Derrick, Sally’s boyfriend. Jordan finds out and threaten to tell sally if he didn’t stop. Ivy and Derrick devised a means to get rid of Jordan and sally . The set both Jordan and sally up , framed Sally for the death of Jordan. The cops found his body in Sally’s room. She had no evidence to prove her innocence. Sally was sentenced to life imprisonment. Reality dawned on her ,she had no one to run to. Sally had no idea her friend and boyfriend set her up . No one knew ..Except Mr Norman , the old cleaner from 5th grade . He witnessed how Jordan was murdered by Ivy and Derrick. He visited Mr and Mrs Harding and narrated everything he saw to them. They called the cops and put down their statement. Ivy and Derrick were called for questioning. But they were cleared because there was no evidence to show they murdered him. Two weeks later , Mr Norman was murdered. There was no traces of who did it, soon the case was closed. Mr Harding and his wife confronted the Musk’s , they denied all allegations against them. Ivy and Derrick devised a means to get rid of the Harding family all at once. Back in the prison sally had a diary which she carried about everywhere. Robin was on his way to the grocery store, two armed men stopped and shot him twice in the chest. The Harding family was thrown into mourning. Sally developed a mental crises at the news of her brother’s death. She was transferred to the school of health crises management , New York . Sally had spent two years there and gained trust in Dr Kate,whom she opened up to about the two scars she had in her heart and couldn’t tell anyone. She recounted on how her dad beat her up everyday in fifth grade when he dropped her off from school. The ritual performed on her the day she passed the night at the Musk’s. How Derrick and his family made her drink the blood of their great grandfather which had been preserved for years. They claimed it was a ritual of the new moon for any new person joining the family. Sally was released on the basics of good behavior. She was set to take revenge for what the Musk’s did to her and her brother , she resolved to make her dad also pay for what he did to her in fifth grade. Sally was rearrested for the murder of all the members of the Musk’s family , including her best friend Ivy and her father. The story has a tragic end has Sally was sentenced to death by electrocution
