Ivy's last summer before college takes an unexpected turn, when she meets a gorgeous young man, Jared, at his family's housewarming party. Jared becomes instantly obsessed with her, and she can't help but fall into his love trap. His goal is to get Ivy pregnant as soon as possible. She doesn't understand the hurry, but can't resist Jared's attempts. She quickly finds herself pregnant and decides to tell Jared on their big date night. Tragedy strikes when they are hit by a truck, on the way there. Ivy wakes up a few days later to find out that Jared is in critical condition and in a coma. Ivy is distraught, but has faith that Jared will pull through. Their love is strong. She quickly falls into a routine of spending time in Jared's hospital room, pregnancy and maintaining their small home. Everyday Jared is making improvements and Ivy just knows things will work out. Until one day, their house is broken into. Jared's home office is raided, his computer and many larger items of furniture have been stolen. Upon cleaning his office and beginning to turn it into the nursery, Ivy discovers a box of used notebooks. She begins reading the one on top, only to realize that these notebooks are filled with Jared's every day thoughts, hopes, dreams and vast secrets. She learns there's a side of Jared she knows nothing about, that hits close to home.
