She doesn't know her past. Doesn't even know who her father was, or what he looked like. Just terrible stories her mother told, of abuse and terror, that sent her running across the country to Steamy South Florida with two young daughters, leaving her home of the dark and crowded streets of Queens and all her family. She never spoke of him. Made both daughters swear she wouldn't look for him until she was dead, wouldn't ask or search until there wasn't breath left in her body. Lily swore as her mother was the only solid thing in her life, and she always wanted to make her mother happy as she sometimes stared at her features of dark red curls marred by a brilliant white streak at her right temple and light blue eyes that went grey when she was upset and seemed to get lost. Lily's older sister Deena had her mother's slight build and green eyes and dark hair, while Lily was tall and athletic. Lily knew by a young age, her looks must match her father's. So she was always trying to make up for that slight to her mother, even though she wasn't to blame for it. Her mother struggled physically her whole life, in and out of hospitals, on different medications. She remarried when the girls were young, had two more girls, Lynn and Rose, who Lily and Deena would die to protect. The four girls fought like wolverines against each other but would turn that feral rage against anyone who dared look at one of the others wrong. The Older girls weren't accepted by their step father and the marriage crumbled after just a few years, and their mother quicky remarried. It was almost like she was afraid to not have a man in the house. There were no more children added, but this New husband didn't look down on any of the sisters as less then and adopted them all fully. Life went on, the girls grew, the family went on vacations and everything seemed normal. Except, Lily would have "flashes", she didn't know what else to call them, that flash of feeling something was behind you, looking at you. Always just out of where she could pinpoint where it was coming from. As she grew older, made it into High School, the teaser on her streak got worse, and friends told her to cover it. Teasing it made her look old. lily couldn't bring herself to cover something that seemed to be something that was hers that no one else had. When Lily turned 16, she was walking through the courtyard of her school, across scorching hot cobblestones, holding the birthday balloons she got, scrambling to get to her next class and into the AC. Summers in Florida were Brutal and it was the end of the school year, so classes were easier, tests were done. And she was looking forward to going home after school to study for her driver's license test. As she ran across the courtyard she suddenly slammed into a solid mass, it had come out of nowhere and she thought she stupidly ran into a wall. But she realized almost immediately she had toppled into a person, a giant of a man. Bigger then any man she had met, she immediately stepped back and started to stutter out an apology "I'm... I'm so sorry. I didn't see yo.." the man cut her off and she stood staring up into a carved face. He look angry, but she couldn't keep talking. The streak. he has the streak. His streak ran down his right temple too, going silver through the dark dark red hair. "Two Years, Two years and someone will come for you" he said softly. Lily backed up and looked around, and started to realize that no one else was gawking at the virtual giant in front of her. Everything seemed fuzzy, soft and out of focus, the people pushing through the crowds running from one end of the campus to another just color blurs she couldn't make out. "Who are you? What's happening" She said, backing up quickly, her fight or flight kicking in at full force. she knew she wasn't safe with this person suddenly. knew she needed to get away. He smiled a wide smile, straight white teeth gleaming, "Don't worry Little One, you have Two Years. Then you won't be able to run anymore. Tell that ungrateful mongrel that is your mother that Aaron said hello" The blur disappeared, the colors and people snapped back into focus so quickly it made her stomach flip like she was in a tornado. Her friend Carter stopped next to her holding her arm, laughing " Birthday Girl get overcome by the heat? Thought you were a florida grown girl? " She shook her head and walked next to him, forcing a laugh. " " Yeah the weight of my awesome drags me down some days" she quipped back quickly, her mind racing, knowing she couldn't tell anyone, not even her sister what had happened. Only one person she needed answers from, her Mom. And now? She refused to take No for an answer.
