Kimberly stumbled across a stunning young man's photo on her mother's phone and developed a shameless crush on him, which eventually led to her family proposing a marriage, but she was brutally rejected by him.
All Kimberly wanted was to get back to work and distract her mind from the devastating failed marriage proposal and fix her broken heart, but what she never expected was to meet the man she's trying to forget as her new senior at work, whose office was next to hers.
Angered, Kimberly was still trying to process working under the man she used to like, who's now her enemy, until the director hit her with the news of working on a case with her enemy, living in the same house with him, and sharing a bed.
Emotionally torn, Kimberly went from wanting to forget her enemy to…..
“You're nervous. I can smell it,” he teased.
“You're insane.” I groaned and tried pulling away, but his grip tightened. He suddenly grabbed my jaw, yanking my face to the side.
“Running from me?” His eyes were teasing, his smile lines widening upward, a victorious smirk plastered across his face.
“You can't escape me, baby. I'm here to stay.”
“I hate you.”
“Really? Your body says otherwise.” A low chuckle escaped his lips, the corners of his mouth curving into a smirk.
Catching me unawares, he suddenly slammed his lips against mine. I pulled away, trying to break free, until a sharp pain sank into the skin of my lower lip.
“Ouch…” I hit his chest as he pulled away, smiling like a psycho.
He swiped his thumb across his lip, which was tainted with my blood, and right before my eyes, he dipped it into his mouth, sucking it off like a lunatic.
“You're crazy.” I shook my head.
“Why don't I believe any words coming from that pretty, annoying mouth of yours?” His gaze darkened, his grin taunting.
“I fucking want to punish that mouth of yours for daring to say it hates me.”
I stared at him, furious, breathless, and completely unwilling to admit that my body had betrayed me.
I hated Adrian Blackwell.
At least, that was what I kept telling myself.
