Optimism Made Simple
Updated at Jan 5, 2023, 01:40
This is a short anthology of five true, inspirational stories which illustrate the amazing power of optimism. Read about an airport shuttle driver who inexplicably waits past his midnight deadline for the author’s family. Find out what happens to a farmer who demands payment for hay he made but was given for free, or the stable manager who demands high payment from a rider to replace fence boards and posts the rider’s horses didn’t break. Meet a young man cured of Bell’s Palsy through prayer, or the unhappy woman who helps pay for a young relative’s college tuition after the author prays for her well-being. Coupled with forgiveness and charitable thinking towards those who wish us evil, positive thoughts can resolve the toughest of situations to produce a happy result.

This short anthology contains three true stories about an old mare who becomes a superstar and her son who takes over where she leaves off. Contains the stories: Kelly: The Horse I Didn’t Want -- Kelly was already eighteen years old when she arrived at my barn as a thin, nervous Thoroughbred ex-racehorse with a host of bad habits and behavioral problems. Little did I know she would become my equine soul-mate within six months of being given to me for free. She won numerous dressage, show-jumping, and eventing competitions until her death many years later. Kelly Comes Through -- The story of how Kelly comes to the last minute rescue of a courageous teenage girl in the bid for her Pony Club badge, when her original mount went lame on test day. Kelly’s Son -- After a rocky birth and a youth filled with accidents and injuries, Kelly’s son Cruz Bay develops into a consistent winner of blue ribbons. But not without more setbacks along the way!

Hillie's Story
Updated at Jan 4, 2023, 21:55
Living in Germany made it difficult to find a Golden Retriever, a rare breed over there. My husband and I had to fly to Hanover to check out a new litter of puppies. Over the next fourteen years, Hillie shared horse trail rides with us, skied with us in Austria, traveled to Italy and America, and got arrested in England. She was a truly international family member!

The Dog with Two Lives
Updated at Jan 4, 2023, 17:21
Scamp is a Jack Russell of dubious breeding and an unacceptable color scheme. But he is determined to leave his hectic home behind to come live with my husband and me, and his persistence pays off. He quickly burrows into our hearts and proceeds to embark on a series of hair-raising adventures, including a near death experience, a brush with alligators in Florida, testing the strength of lanai mesh, being a stowaway, rounding up my horse, and luring our Great Dane into a neighboring pool. The rough-coated little dog is a smooth operator when it comes to charming everyone he meets with his friendliness and trusting ways, yet he always lives up to his name!

Hillie is a kind-hearted Golden Retriever. But one night she goes missing. Her overnight companion Blue, the family’s Great Dane, limps home in the morning ... but no Hillie. The family finally traces her to a doggie cell at the local police station and is horrified to discover she is accused of killing and maiming sheep. How can sweet Hillie have suddenly turned so vicious? And why is there no blood on her mouth from all that murdering? The mission is clear: absolve Hillie from all blame.
