Ava Williams has started her second semester at Granite University. She loves her new found freedom and independence. She adores her two close friends Jackie and Stephanie, who have helped her transition into college. The three friends go to a local burger restaurant off campus. They luckily arrive before it starts raining heavily. After finishing the meal and chat for a bit, they are ready to leave but there is a thunderstorm outside. They run into the rain and take shortcuts into an alley. They see a man wearing a black hoodie severely beating up another man. Ava and her friends had never seen anything so gruesome and horrifying. Jackie and Stephanie retreat while Ava still stands there unable to move. The hoodie stranger turns and they exchange looks for a brief second. Flight mode kicks in and she runs all the way back to her dorm. The next day, Ava goes to her psychology class. She sits in the front because that helps her focus more. When the teacher arrives, she pays no mind because she thinks that he is young enough to be a student but to her surprise he is the professor and an even more shock is that he is the hoodied stranger she saw last night who beat up that poor man in the alley. She is stricken with fear as he makes eye c****t with her. She learns his name is Gavin Rivers and he has a dangerous past. Gavin takes Ava on ride and she never forgets.
