Koren's 16th birhtday has finally come but as a Fatu he is anything but excited. Ever scene the arrival of what his people call the Anuka, some several hundred years ago, the fatu have been fated to be the pets and playthings of these despicably powerful blood drinkers, and used for political power, and favors in their sick society's in a twisted power grab, to be bartered with, and mated off to whichever partner their owner sees fit. before Korens time and long before even his great great grandfathers, their people were free. living in nomadic tribes and sharing their life energy with one another with no knowledge the Anu and their human slaves. hundreds of years later and the Anu and their humans have taken over their lands and forced them into closed of communities in an effort to keep their apparently intoxicatingly delicious blood pure. but on his way to be sold off in auction to the highest bidder, Koren is kidnapped and faced with a secret society bent on destroying the current order. His world is turned upside down as he is forced to do their dirty work and take the fall or suffer the consequences.
