A thousand years ago, practitioners of the mystic arts were adored all over the lands. They were considered as heroes, and were a symbol of hope. Kingdoms were fighting over them, as they showed great military might. During the great continental wars, a secret meeting between the rulers of the participating kingdoms occured. They deemed the mages too dangerous. In order to achieve peace, one kingdom proposed that everyone must kill their own mage, every single one. Then, only will they achieve true peace. Every ruler agreed, and so, the Great Purge began. Domains eradicated their own mages, ending the great war.Remaining mages went into hiding, some making pacts with demons seeking retribution for their wronged comrades. Along with each domain's propaganda against magic users, their reputation was ruined. They were no longer loved by the people, they became outcasts. Magic practitioners went extinct, at least that's what most believe.Centuries later, a young, frail, hungry orphan named Aric, hoping to find food in the garbage found something else... A rusty ring?
