Prologue - Descent of Punishment

304 Words
In ancient times, they were thought to be Gods and they were therefore worshiped like Gods because they came from the heavens. They were heralded by a ball of fire that fell from the sky. They lived amongst man and with man. They taught man and learnt from man. They helped man and were helped by man. But to man they would forever remain gods. They erected an island from the oceans and into the heavens held up by ten pillars and ruled by ten Gods. And from their island they guided man. But sometimes, man’s Gods make mistakes. They were never meant to mate with man, and it is against the law of the very universe to do so. Some of man’s Gods however, thought that because they have been exalted by man that they are now above the laws of the universe. That they can do with man as they please with no consequences. Ah, but man is still but a child. And as it should be, a child will be governed by their parents. And thus, those Gods that thought themselves above the law were captured and kept under gloomy darkness until the judgement of the great day. And when man was old enough, they hid the island they had built but not their pillars as a reminder to man that he would be forever watched over. Millennia’s later and man have forgotten the Gods that guided him. They are nothing but legend to him. And that is how it should be. However, unknown to man, his gods still walk amongst him, with him, by him watching over him as promised. And will forever continue to do so. Because it is a promise as old as time, ingrained into the very core of the universe.
