Chapter 9What the butler saw
The mortuary staff had performed a minor miracle in preparing Joey Slimani's remains for his wife to view in order to carry out the formal identification. Somehow, they'd managed to lay out the torso and head in such a way, that, covered by the crisp, white sheets, it would appear that she was viewing an entire body. Up to this point, she remained unaware of the gory details of her husband's body's collision with the Lime Street-bound train.
True to her word, Trixie had been brought to the morgue by her 'butler' or 'manservant', Jennings. Having been met at the mortuary by Ross and Drake, they were escorted by Izzie's husband, Paul Foster, to the viewing room, where Joey's remains lay.
