Chapter Seven
It was too late to take them back. Sean’s words were already out of his mouth and in her ears. And, oh boy, had she heard them.
Ruhi stared at him. Her lips parted, her eyes wide. Her hand was on her abdomen, as though she were protecting her baby from the ludicrous idea.
Sean had no idea what had gotten into him.
Wait. Yes, he did. It was the feel of her resting against his shoulder. It was the vulnerable, lost look in her eyes as she’d gazed up at him.
It had all felt so right. And if she married him, even in name only, she could feel free to do that every day.
She could come home from a long day at the office taking care of others, and he would take care of her. He would bring her comfort foods to nourish her. He would listen to her as she told him all of her secrets
