Chapter 1
Chapter 1
“Expel her! She has brought disgrace to our pack!" Alpha Nero's mother yelled, pointing accusing fingers at her daughter-in-law, Luna Ciora.
“Wait, there must be a mistake. I would never cheat on you, Nero," she claimed, wrapping her arms protectively around her baby bump.
The pups in her womb was discovered to belong to another werewolf. Alpha Nero frowned at her with inherent disgust and burning hate in his eyes.
“So you are saying the moon stone is a fake?" Alpha Nero voice thundered across the room, frightening everyone present.
It was the baby revealing ceremony. Every fourth night of the full moon, Graceland pack held a revealing ceremony for pregnant women in their pack. It was a custom passed down from generations to discover those from the Alpha bloodline and powerful werewolves who would serve the pack dutifully.
Luna Ciora had been excited about her baby reveal until the moon stone declared her babies null from the Alpha bloodline.
“I don't understand…" she stammered, looking side by side. Confusion written boldly on her forehead.
She had only slept with her Alpha, her mate and husband. How was it possible that she was carrying another man's child?
Alpha Nero had been looking forward to having their children. He loved and cared for her so much that she made sure to do everything to please him.
Now this!
She looked around, seeking for help but everyone stayed in their lane throwing sentimental gazes at her.
"Whose babies are they?" Alpha Nero questioned, his voice hoarse and harsh.
Luna Ciora flinched lost of words. This was the first time her husband had yelled at her. She fidgeted, fondling her fingers like she did whenever she was nervous.
“I…I…" she trailed off when the large doors to the hall creaked open.
Henrietta, her half sister strode in majestically. Behind her, her father, brother and stepmother followed. Luna Ciora ran down from the altar, hope glimmering in her eyes on seeing her family.
"Dad, Mom, brother and sister. Help me, tell them that I would not do such thing." She grabbed Henrietta's hand but she pulled it away and scoffed cynically.
“What the point of hiding the truth?" Henrietta muttered and everyone in the room clamored.
Alpha Nero's frown deepened on hearing Henrietta's words. Luna Ciora stared at her, bewildered by what she meant.
“Ri, please tell everyone the truth. Tell them that Nero is the father of my children," Luna Ciora pleaded.
“But that's not true," Henrietta muttered and the hall gasped. "How could you be so wicked, Ciora? Do you know how hard it has been keeping your secret?"
“What secret?" Alpha Nero stepped forward with his mother curious about the secret.
Luna Ciora grabbed her sister's hand and pleaded silently with her eyes for her not to reveal the secret. But Henrietta had her own ambition.
She pushed Ciora aside and went behind her elder brother acting coy like Ciora had threatened her.
“Please don't hate me. But Alpha Nero and his family needs to know the truth," Henrietta muttered shyly.
“Don't be afraid, Ri. Tell them what you have told us," her brother urged her. It was then that Luna Ciora realized that her family were against her.
Her father's gaze were scornful and her stepmother had a low smirk on her lip. Luna Ciora staggered backwards stressed from the whole situation. Alpha Nero didn't bother to hold her or look her direction. This broke her heart.
Henrietta opened her mouth and spilled the secret out. "Ciora has been meeting in secret with the Alpha of Bloomcity pack." The silent hall went up in chaos as the revelation was a grave crime.
Alpha Nero turned to his Luna, his eyes filled with rage and disgust.
“You have been secretly meeting up with my enemy! Is he the owner of the bastards in your womb?!" The ground shook as the Alpha released his devastating aura.
Everyone in the hall went down on their knees, subdued by his aura.
“It's not what you think, My Alpha…"
“There is no need to explain!" He roared and Luna Ciora broke down in tears.
With anger, Alpha Nero turned to the pack members and declared. "From this day forward, Luna Ciora Bemount is discharged of her duties as Luna and banished from Graceland pack permanently!"
The hall cheered, members of the pack hauled insults and words of degradation at Luna Ciora. Cursing her for being a spy for the enemy pack.
Luna Ciora screened the crowd of people who mocked and condemned her. They were quick to judge her without finding out the truth behind her actions.
She glanced at her family having no words for them. Then she looked back at her husband, disappointed that he chose to listen to the others over her own words.
“It's such a shame that I trusted you. If there was anyone in this hall to believe me it should have been you. Yet you condemned me without hearing my own side of the story. Fine, I will leave but don't come back begging for my forgiveness permanently," Luna Ciora stated with clenched fists.
Alpha Nero hesitated as she spurned towards the door. He loved her but the moon stone never lied nor did she deny the truth about meeting the enemy. She was the one who betrayed him but why did he feel so much pain watching her leave?
His eyes lingered on her, hoping that she would stop and deny the allegations but she didn't and that infuriated him. He let her leave and watched as his guards shut her outside the gates of Graceland pack.
Without looking back, Luna Ciora ventured into the thick forest covered in snow abandoning everything behind.
Later at night, Alpha Nero sat in his study a bottle of alcohol in his hand. He slurred, hissing and cussing at the slightest sound. He stared at Ciora's photo next to him and blamed her for betraying him.
Henrietta quietly snuck into his study, tip-toeing towards him carefully to avoid stepping on the broken bottle on the floor.
“Who goes there?" His voice came out hoarse and threatening.
“Nero, it is I, Henrietta." She trailed her hands on his shoulders then on his chest. "Let me take your sorrows away," she whispered seductively in his ear.
Alpha Nero tilted his head towards her almost kissing her in the process. He searched her face for a while then slurred. “Get out."
"But…"
"Get out before I burn you!" He surged flames into his palm frightening Henrietta instantly. She backed away from him, bitter that her half-sister still lingered in his heart.
"You need a Luna to run the affairs of the pack with you," she declared, adamant about taking her sister's place.
“What makes you qualified to be my Luna?" He questioned, dead serious.
“I can give you true alpha heirs and help you with the war at the border," she replied.
"Get out!" He raised his voice.
“She is right, Nero." His mother's voice echoed from behind as she strode gracefully into his study. "With that sleazy b***h gone, you will need an heir to appease the council and the pack affairs can't be carried by only you," she pointed out convincingly.
Henrietta, seeing his mother was in support of her siezed the opportunity and crashed her lips on his. Unable to resist, he let her take control, fell under her spell and marked her as his Luna.
