Maureen's life

is marriage a gift or a curse? nowadays, we have so many unanswered questions. is it good to enter in the life of marriage ? Men are no longer the same. my grandmother used to say .(My granddaughter it is not good for a married woman to leave her marriage. The first thing you must think of is WHAT WILL PEOPLE SAY). then I started asking myself. is it good to get married this nowadays? our elders forget, or i will say they are ignorant of one thing . our times are no longer the same as theirs. when man was the head of his house. and women were submissive to their husband. when man was a provider and women taking care of the property and children. that's what we used to know and see in Africa. just imagine how can I be submissive while I'm the one who provides. men are no longer the same as old days. The only thing men know this nowadays is to abuse and kill women. they are no longer talking care of their families, but they would rather run away or abuse them. there is no longer happiness in marriage anymore. (what people will say ) is no longer working. this is my life. I'm the one who is responsible for it . no one has a right to make decisions for me.i would rather come out of that marriage while I'm still alive. we women must stand up . How can you stay in an abusive marriage. in the name of WHAT PEOPLE WILL SAY. THIS IS YOUR LIFE. let them talk. let them walk away. let them judge. you have done enough. you have sacrificed enough. only God knows your struggle. he is the one who fed you when you were empty and took care of you when you had no one. run while you can. if you can't roll like a ball until you are sure of your safety. I remember one story of a woman who left her house with a man. in the name of love. her family warned her about that man ,but she chose to ignore them. they went to another town and stayed there. that man started abusing her . he locked her in a one room house with no water and sanitation. Every time when he comes back, he would beat her. she stayed there for three months .her nails were too long, like that of hen . her legs were no longer working. you could see her face is written fear. something came to my mind. that man never loved that woman. maybe he was trying to prove a point from someone. How can a loving man change to a beast ? we only thank God for she was found alive. although she was in the worst condition. women like this have no power to talk, and some of them even defend their men. their mentality has been destroyed. to obey and bounds under the current situation. many of them live with children. I can imagine the status of those children. they even fail to concentrate at school. going around bulling other children. men are no longer killing their women, but they are also killing their young ones' mind. a child grows up knowing that there is nothing wrong with abusing a woman. some children are now troublesome in the community because of one person, man. In the Bible, God said he created a man in his image. I fail to understand how a man can be God's image while they are doing such hilarious things. In this situation, there was a lady called Maureen. in her mind, there was one thing . to get married one day. even though she saw her mom went through hardships in her marriage .but she still had that mind .maybe it was the situation she grew up under. she grew up not knowing the love of her father. one day, she found the man of her dreams. at first, things were good. although her mather in low has so much hatred on her, she kept on telling herself that as long as her man was on her side, everything was ok. as the year passed , mother in law hatred grew to the extent of not pretending anymore. she tried with so many ways to separate them, but she never succeeded. problem started when Maureen's husband stroked by strange sickness. it was hard. Maureen was no longer allowed to touch, cook, or make laundry for her husband. that same mather in law used to call her a witch. in those days, there was no income. they only survived with children social grant. although Maureen was a prayer woman . she used to pray and ask God for intervention. every midnight. until one day, Maureen decided that it was enough. she could see there was nothing to pray for. she then asked God to take her out of that marriage. one faithful day, God answered her prayers. That same mather in low, came to her and told her to leave. After one month of preparation. Maureen left her marriage. in this episode, a woman was verbally abused by her mother in low. we thank God, she came out alive. in this situation, we found a lady called Gugu. she was married and stayed with her husband. Gugu's husband pretended to have everything in life . even Gugu's family was very happy because they knew that she would be well taken care of. problem started when Gugu found out that her husband was faking his financial life. He had no money at all. they were struggling just to put food on the table. he was verbally and fiscally abusing her. as time goes on, Gugu finds out she is pregnant. she was so happy. she couldn't wait to tell her husband. with joy in her heart ,she told her husband about the pregnancy. I her surprise the man started throwing hard words on her. ( Are you ok .can you even use your mind ones in your life. I'm struggling to feed myself. How am I going to raise this child? he then fost her to terminate the pregnancy. Gugu was so heartbroken. she then decided not to tell her family. one day, Gugu was so fed up that she then decided to leave her marriage. as she came home, family was so worried about her. asking themselves, how come she has nothing to show up in here marriage? they didn't know that the marriage was over. they took her to the powerful poster who told them she should be with a baby that baby would be one year. then Gugu told them everything that had been happening in her husband house. and she also told them that she was no longer going back. Gugu's father told her daughter that she was welcome to stay at home, but her mother kept on saying what people would say . even the group of neighbors came to warned her mother . saying that she will be a bad example to their daughters. as women, we must learn to support each other.
