'For some reason, Claude had become distant again, even though he seemed to be in a good mood when the guest first arrived. What a moody man...'
"Who said I was enjoying the show? I'm learning."
"Learning?"
Lillian shrugged and smiled. "Learning how to interact with people, so I can be a good wife... After all, someone as excellent as you is rare in the world."
Seeing his expression soften, Lillian secretly smiled.
'It seemed even someone like Claude couldn't resist a good compliment.'
Claude snorted. "You'd better be."
"Better be what?"
Suddenly, Melissa appeared with the medical team.
Lillian realized it was time for Claude's scheduled massage, as instructed by the doctor.
The therapist set up the equipment, and the masseur began working on Claude, focusing on his legs.
Lillian watched the masseur thoughtfully. 'Maybe Harry was right. Claude's legs hadn't fully recovered yet.'
"Lillian, what were you two talking about?" Melissa asked again.
Lillian suddenly felt embarrassed.
'What I said to Harry was a threat. To Claude, it was flattery, but to his grandmother...'
Lillian blushed and explained quietly, "I said I was learning to be his good wife..."
Melissa immediately laughed and gently stroked Lillian's hair. "Good girl, but don't worry. As long as you are Mrs. Kent, no one will dare say you're not qualified."
"I know."
Melissa nodded in satisfaction. "If you want to learn anything, just ask Claude. If he's unwilling, just come to me."
Lillian readily agreed. 'Claude wouldn't dare give me a hard time if I had Melissa's backing, right? But he probably hates being manipulated like this.'
Lillian glanced at Claude, trying to gauge his reaction, but she froze.
Claude was lying on the bed with his eyes closed, his face flushed, lips tightly pressed together, and his forehead covered in sweat.
The therapist was using electrotherapy to treat him.
Claude gritted his teeth, silently enduring as sweat soaked the hair on his forehead.
Lillian couldn't take her eyes off him.
Claude looked even more alluring than last night.
Lillian suddenly thought that maybe having him as her husband wouldn't be so bad.
Even if she gave up the wealth and honor that came with his family, he still had enough charm.
She didn't know how much time had passed as she was lost in thought when she suddenly met a pair of blue eyes.
It was Claude. His treatment was over.
He was breathing lightly, his pajamas soaked with sweat, clinging to his chest as it heaved.
The therapist and masseur soon packed up and reported to Melissa.
Lillian hadn't heard anything until Melissa mentioned her.
"Lillian, could you please help with Claude's bath?"
Lillian looked up and met Melissa's teasing gaze.
Her face instantly turned bright red, and she hastily nodded in agreement.
"Thank goodness we have you, the Kent family's lucky star." Melissa patted her shoulder, looking touched.
"Claude hates being touched by others. He can tolerate treatment with his clothes on, but I'm afraid only you can help with his bath. It's a tough job."
"It's okay. It's what I should do."
She watched Melissa and the medical team leave. The room was left with only Lillian and Claude.
After Melissa left, Lillian finally calmed down and realized what she had agreed to.
'Oh my, what did I just agree to? Help Claude take a bath?!'
After meeting Claude's ambiguous smile, Lillian completely cooled down.
'Melissa seemed to have some kind of magic. She always easily made me somehow agree to things...'
"Come on, Ms. Lucky Star. Didn't you agree so quickly just now?"
Claude was fresh from his treatment. His voice was slightly hoarse. He sat in his wheelchair, leisurely watching Lillian, waiting for her to act.
Lillian walked stiffly forward, letting out a nervous laugh.
"It's just a bath, right? It's not like I haven't done it before."
Claude's face darkened, and he asked gloomily, "Who else have you helped bathe?"
"Um... Bella, a Schnauzer."
"Are you comparing me to a pet?"
"I never said that."
After a bit of banter with Claude, Lillian felt much more relaxed.
She pushed Claude to the bathroom, taking a deep breath to mentally prepare herself.
