She's just human

As seconds built up to minutes, my head created all possible scenarios of how it could go wrong. The golden-haired boss would open the door, ask a few questions which I would fail to answer, then bam! A clean shot through my head, scattering my brain in his car. He would then order his subordinates to drive my lifeless body deep into the forest before lighting the car on fire. Boom! The car would explode and my body turned to ashes in a few minutes. My entire insides shuddered to that vivid outcome as I hugged my knees, curling up at one corner of the backseat. Maybe it's all a dream. I must be high and this is all in my head. I comforted myself, hoping against hope. The fragrance from the coat poked my nostrils again, a pleasing reminder that it may be all too real. So I buried my head between my chest and knees, allowing the cologne to take over my senses. The more I inhaled it, the less scared I became. And from the five minutes I had stuffed my nose with that alluring fragrance, all anxiety died down. It had...till the door was suddenly unlocked. The sudden motion gave me no time to adjust my position, causing my body to follow the opening door with a scream from my lips. The thought of hitting the asphalt paving nearly gave me a heart attack... I waited for the pain, readied myself to embrace it. But, it never came. Had I died already from the knock? Had my head cracked open like a coconut and spilled my brain on their shoes? The air flowing through my lungs was fresh and cool. It didn't smell like death at all. My eyes slowly parted, taking in the sight of a huge male squatting over me, his hand beneath my neck. He, had broke my fall. My savior, my- oh no Alexa! He ain't your savior! Just as I was about to say a 'thank you', he carelessly let go...The impact of my skull on the paving was tiny, but it would leave a bruise. "Ouch!" I groaned as the my legs fell off the seat as well. "Get up and get back in!" He ordered stepping back. "Do you wish to have the front seat?" The man holding open the door asked his boss. "She's just human!" Was all he said, before walking away. "Don't make me throw you in the car again!" I glared up at the bastard, the same one that had been guarding me for the last one hour. There were so many curses I wished to throw at him, but I refrained from letting that raw urge overtake me. My pace was sluggish, a war raging in my head weighing my chances if I ran instead of getting in the car. How fast was the bodyguard? "Don't even try it!" Perhaps if I played along, I would be released before day break. These men looked strong and healthy. While their intentions were still vague, I didn't want to push my luck or cause any more trouble. A car door slammed from the other side, drawing my gaze to the male settling on the backseat. He slid out his phone, clicked the screen a number of times, ignoring me as I crawled back on the seat. As soon as I was in the car, the bodyguard shut my side of the door, closing out all hope of running off. "It's not too late to tell me the truth." I stared. What truth? "I don't know what you're talking about." He sighed, hinting a speck of annoyance. My eyes dashed past him, through the tinted window and on the people casually walking out through that back door in their fancy suits. Making small talk amongst themselves, they headed for their waiting cars, all except one. He stood outside the car I had been stashed, his eyes fixed on the window. Could he see me? Perhaps he wanted to help! My throat itched to scream. My lips yearned to let out a cry for help. But he never bothered about me, just pulled out a cigar from his breast pocket and a lighter. The small flame burned one end of the cigar, bringing it to life. And when he puffed, the red dot glowed brightly, so did his eyes. It was only brief, but I saw it. "His-his freaking eyes just-" "Drive!" Ordered the man a seat away. It took no less than a second to start the car and off we drove. But the image of the man with the cigar would forever be engraved in my memories. Was it an illusion? Maybe. Was I going crazy? Probably.
