It has now been 10 years since Billy was murdered by Herman and Jeremy, but the only one left to face the consequences is Herman because Jeremy took the easy way out because he was a coward. All the evidence that has been collected during the entire investigation by the state police, Freddy, and a private expert that was hired by Freddy and the family. It all adds up to the same thing, Herman murdered Billy, and Stevie Jo had some kind of involvement. It has been said that she told Herman that Billy was going to be the only one home because her and the kids were going to a*****e 20 minutes away to get dinner rolls. Instead of just showing up at Billy's house they went to Stevie's parents house first, to try to play along so that no one knew that Stevie Jo was involved. The family knew all along that Stevie Joe had some kind of involvement in Billy's murder, especially William, but it couldn't be proved that she set him up to be murdered.
The shotgun that the police were looking for had not been in Billy's possession for 2 years before his murder because he had gave it to his uncle Freddy to hold for him. He had told several people that he knew something bad was going to happen to him but he just didn't know when or how bad it would be. People just continued to tell him he was paranoid, and that nothing was going to happen to him. The news of Freddy having the shotgun that he was supposedly pointing at the Gehl boys got back to the prosecutor, and that was the biggest break in the case. They sent officers to Freddy's house to question him about it, he showed it to them along with a copy of the letter that was dated when he got it from Billy. The police took pictures of the gun, and Freddy made a copy of the dated letter. When they asked Herman what the gun looked like, and showed him a picture he told them that it was the exact gun.
He had been very depressed about the whole situation, and couldn't see anything coming from the murder of his dad. He was having problems with his wife because of how things had just crumbled, and he couldn't take it anymore. His grandma Edith had the kids for a few nights, because he and Amber were fighting so bad.On Wednesday July 31, 2019 he decided that he had had enough of the lies, stress, fighting with his wife, and harassment from Herman Gehl that he could take. He ended up shooting his wife and then turning the gun on himself, leaving their two children without any parents. The kids woke up on Wednesday and we're eating breakfast and they asked Edith if she thought their mommy and daddy were done fighting, and she told them she was going to check on them cause they weren't answering their phone. She went down to their house and no one was answering the door, she called the police to do a welfare check on them. The police couldn't get in and Freddy was out of town on vacation and he was the only one with a spare key. Edith called one of her neighbors who came down and pushed a window air conditioner through the window of William and Amber's home, and then pushed Edith through the window. What she found when she got inside was Amber and William were both dead on the floor from a murder suicide.
The prosecutor then decided to tell Herman that the gig was up, and that they had finally pieced together the evidence and had him dead to rights on murder charges. It took a new prosecutor to look at the evidence, and decide that they had enough evidence to charge Herman with murder. Herman is sitting in jail waiting being charged for murder, and is waiting for his court date. Herman is trying to make sure that if he's going down that Stevie gets brought down with him for her involvement. Even though for William it was a little too late.
Because of Herman and Jeremy's actions it caused Billy's family to loses Billy, William, and Amber's life. It also caused Billy Joe Tracy and Vanessa Tracy to be orphans. They are now in the custody of Billy's cousin John Christopher.
There were so many innocent lives that were lost just because of jealousy, anger, and thinking that because of your last name you will not face the consequences of your actions. Now that Herman's dad is not here to protect him anymore, he has to face the consequences of his actions. It may have taken 10 years, but at least the family will finally get the justice they deserve.
