Change in law

480 Words
As of July 1, 2014 the law changed for the habitual offender charge, if a person is convicted they will have to serve 80% of their time before they can be released. Three years to the date of the murder (November 24, 2014).It's been 3 yrs. and the coverup continues. The family have obtained some of the crime scene records but not all. In one of the reports it states that Herman's clothes were taken to test them for gunshot residue. They still haven't seen (or have been told) the results from that test. They still don't have Billy's cell phone records. Minton is protecting them like his life depends on it. And knowing some of the pieces of s**t involved in this, maybe it does. One state cop involved in the (so called) investigation is now dead from a blood clot in his brain. Remember the crime lab states it only takes 35 days for a turnaround of reports at this time. December 17, 2013 - Prosecutor Minton told Edith (Billy's mom) the other day, that the Judge denied the Habitual Offender charge against Herman Gehl. But, that doesn't surprise anyone. People honestly think that all Minton is doing is putting on a Dog and Pony show to try and make it look like he is doing his job. If Minton Was doing his job, he would have charged Herman Gehl and Jeremy Gehl both with MURDER 3 years ago. Anyway, Herman still has to face his 2 DUI charges. But, everyone is sure it won't amount to much if anything.  January 9, 2014 - Judge Lopp ruled that the State Of Indiana (Prosecutor Minton) can charge Herman Gehl with being an Habitual Offender. Herman's attorney is appealing the decision. Now if Herman's attorney loses the appeal in Indianapolis, Herman will be looking at more years behind bars. It's not a Murder charge yet, but, it's also, not over with either. Herman's trial for the habitual offender charge has been reset for Sept. 22, 2014 at 9am at the local Courthouse, and it will be a jury trial. Herman's bond is set at $5,000. Then if he is bailed out, he will be under house arrest with a GPS monitor (just like last time) but, this time he will also have to wear an Alcohol ankle monitor. This is what Minton told Edith. Herman isn't out of jail yet. I can't believe the Judge is going to let Herman out on bail Again since he screwed it up so badly last time. Maybe the Judge is giving Herman just enough rope to hang himself. Herman was released on the $5,000 bond on July 3, 2014, and has to be fitted for GPS and alcohol monitors again.  The family is outraged once again that Herman is being released on bail after he had already been rearrested for breaking the terms of bond the first time.
