Charmaine's POV
I wiped down the counter, laughing at something Luca had just said. We were in the cafe where I worked, and it was a slow afternoon. Lily was at school, and everything was going great. Too great, if you asked me. I was starting to get a little spooked by how perfect everything was.
Luca grinned at me, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You're so gullible, Charmaine," he teased. "I was just messing with you."
I playfully rolled my eyes. "Oh, sure you were," I said, laughing.
Luca chuckled and took a sip of his coffee. I couldn't help but notice how easy it was to talk to him, how comfortable I felt in his presence. I had never actually known I could get this close with Luca. We had always been friends, but this was different. This was...nice.
