The Girl Who Ran

Elena     I ran into the woods from the place I once called home. I heard the crunch of leaves beneath my feet as I increased my speed. The big trees, leaves of green and brown, went by in a blur in the summer evening of July. The heat radiating throughout me as I ran in my homeland of Ireland.     The uneven ground began to hurt my feet and I started to have trouble breathing but I kept running. I had to get away from this place. I don't care who I am, I cannot go back there.     My feet began to drag across the ground so I picked up my speed, which was a mistake. My foot hit something hard causing me to fall. As I fell I saw the tree root coming closer to meet my face. I saw my life flash before my eyes and then felt the pain radiating throughout the top of my head.     My vision started to go blurry as I lay on the ground in a haze. The last thing I heard before I blacked out was...footsteps. Alaeric     I ran through the woods at a deadly pace, for a human anyway. My strength and speed increasing in seconds.     I had to catch him. I'm close behind him, I know it. I can smell him, he's so close. He cannot kill anymore innocent girls. I won't let another family be in mourning because of this monster.     Yes, we're both vampyres but I don't drink blood from humans, therefore I don't kill them. So I am no monster, but that's my opinion.     My feet made no sound as I sped through the trees, because vampyres don't make sound when they move.     My mind zipped back to the woods. I'm closer now, I'm almost there. Finally I saw him, he was on the ground leaning over...a girl!     She is definitely unconscious or she would be struggling...wouldn't she? s**t, is she alive? I hope so, I can't let another one die. Furiousity welled up inside me as I dove towards him, knocking his teeth clean from her neck.     We collided to the ground baring our teeth at one another. He was tall, ashy blonde hair, and red eyes that glared at me. He lunged towards me throwing his fist into my face. I punched him back, we scratched and bit and wrestled each other. Our fists flying back and forth between each other. Each of us trying to kill the other. He went for my neck but I'm faster and stronger than him. I grabbed his head and twisted hard. I then pulled my sword out and decapitated him.     I stood there, blood running down my face and body, and my clothes torn to shreds. I walked over to the girl lying by the tree.     Yulp, she is definitely unconscious. Her long brown hair is flowing down her chest and covering her face. I gently pull her hair back and tuck it behind her hair. I gasped, "Damn". She's beautiful. She's lying on her side wearing a long red dress that went past her feet. I imagine her eyes would be brown as well, just like her hair. I see a lot of girls with brown hair and brown eyes, very rarely a girl would have either green or blue, though.     I picked up her angelic body and carried her in my arms to my apartment so Lydia, my sister, could help her. I then realized I hadn't checked to see if she was alive. I really hope she is. She seems different, her beauty intrigues me. Makes me want to get to know her and I'm sure her personality is amazing. It's like there's this magnetic pull between us.     Thoughts of the girl swam through my mind as I ran full speed to my apartment building.
