Episode 1: Rejected by My Mate
The night of the Blood Moon arrives only once every ten years. For the Silver Moon Pack, it was more than a celebration. It was the night the Moon Goddess revealed fated mates. Music echoed through the clearing while bonfires crackled beneath the towering pines. Children laughed as they chased one another around the ancient Moon Stone. Warriors stood proudly beside their families, their silver wolf emblems gleaming in the firelight. Everyone wore smiles. Everyone except Lyra. She stood near the edge of the gathering, smoothing the wrinkles from her simple blue dress. Unlike the richly embroidered gowns worn by Alpha's family and the daughters of noble wolves, hers had been sewn by hand years ago. It was neat but plain. "You're trembling." Lyra looked up to find her best friend, Maya, holding out a cup of berry tea. "I can't help it," Lyra admitted with a nervous smile. "What if I don't have a mate?" Maya laughed softly. "The Moon Goddess has never forgotten anyone." Lyra wished she shared her friend's confidence. She had been an orphan since she was six. Raised by the pack, she had spent most of her life cleaning houses, gathering herbs, and helping the elderly wolves. Many treated her kindly, but others whispered that she brought misfortune. The cruelest rumor of all was that she still hadn't awakened her wolf. At twenty years old, that was almost unheard of. Some believed she was cursed. Others believed she wasn't a true werewolf at all. Lyra had learned to ignore them. Or at least pretend she did. A horn sounded from the center of the clearing. The crowd immediately fell silent. Elder Rowan stepped onto the stone platform, his white hair glowing beneath the moonlight. "The Blood Moon has risen," he announced. "Tonight, the Moon Goddess shall reveal the bonds that cannot be broken." The crowd cheered. Lyra's heart raced. She closed her eyes and whispered the same prayer she had repeated every night for years. Moon Goddess... please let me belong somewhere. A powerful scent drifted across the clearing. Cedar. Rain. Wild earth. Her heart skipped. Without warning, warmth spread through her body. A voice echoed inside her mind. Mate. Her eyes flew open. Across the crowd, surrounded by elite warriors dressed in black, stood Alpha Kael. Tall. Broad-shouldered. His black hair shifted gently in the evening breeze while his silver eyes scanned the crowd with calm authority. Every wolf respected him. Every unmated woman admired him. He was only twenty-six, yet he had already defeated three rival Alphas and united several smaller packs under his protection. People called him the strongest Alpha of his generation. The moment his eyes met Lyra's... Time stopped. The bond slammed into her like lightning. Heat rushed through every vein. Her wolf—silent her entire life—stirred for the first time. Mate... Tears filled Lyra's eyes. It was him. The Moon Goddess had chosen the most powerful Alpha in the kingdom to be her mate. She couldn't stop smiling. For the first time in years... She felt seen. Around them, the crowd began to notice. "They're mates..." "No way..." "Lyra?" "The orphan?" Murmurs spread through the gathering. Alpha Kael stared at her without moving. His expression revealed nothing. No joy. No surprise. Only silence. Lyra gathered every bit of courage she had. Step by step, she walked toward him. Each heartbeat felt louder than the last. When she finally stood before him, she lowered her head respectfully. "My Alpha..." She whispered the word every mated wolf longed to say. "...you're my mate." The entire clearing fell silent. Kael looked into her hopeful eyes. His jaw tightened. A flicker of conflict crossed his face... ...before disappearing completely. ---
