Chapter 3- Lost in a strange world (II)

1319 Words
Lost in a strange world - 'finding myself' Weeks had gone by since I was abducted but I had no idea because of the type of room I was put in. There were no windows through which I could see the sunrise and sunset or a calendar in my room with which I could count days pass me by. I was just abandoned in a white, totally enclosed room with white light bulbs, where food and water came to me through an opening in the door. It was difficult at first and sometimes I would cry my eyes out for hours. Sometimes I would cry myself to sleep, wake up in a pool of my tears and would still be alone when I woke up. Time passed and I stopped crying. I was just five, but I got used to being alone. I stopped expecting anyone to walk through the door and the last time I had human contact or even saw another human felt like forever ago. Suddenly, I heard locks click on my door and I knew it was not for food, because I ate only some minutes ago. My door was open and I thought at last, Dr. Chris had come to check on me again. I was preparing to dash into his arms when I saw who came in. It was a lady. She came in with two other ladies and their sight terrified me. They were very pretty, but had eyes as though they looked into my soul. They all wore black leather suits that hugged their bodies tightly and were armed with different weapons. I cowered in fear and felt a cold shiver run down my spine. They walked up to me and the lady who seemed like their leader said : "Kimiko, it's time to go" I froze and thought: "how did she know my name?" She didn't look like someone I knew from back home. She didn't even look Asian. While I was still thinking about who she could have been, she says a second time: "It's time to go now Kimiko!" I stuttered in response: "Gggggg.... Go where?" She looked down at me with piercing looks and said: " You do not question my words girl!", with voice as though she was angry about something I had done. I was a little startled and moved away from her. Then she said sternly: "Follow me closely", and I did just that. For as long as I could remember, that room was all I knew. My life before the abduction had already started fading. I didn't know what to expect outside that door, but I kept walking towards it. We were out of the room in no time and were in an elevator. We got in and I watched one of them push number 14. After a minute or two, the elevator stopped moving and the doors opened. We walked out and I saw the sunlight after what seemed like forever. A gush of excitement washed over me and I just stood there admiring the sunlight and soaking in its ray into my pale skin. The ladies walking behind me slightly tapped me on the shoulder and told me to move! I quickly followed their instructions so as not to get hurt by them. After walking the length of about two hallways, we stopped and entered an office. It was a large office, and it had a beautiful view of the city below it. In the office, there was a man who looked Asian and seemed to be in his fifties, but I had no idea who he was. He was sitting on a couch in the office with music in the air and a lady strip teasing him. He was laughing hysterically at what was in front of him and seemed to be having a good time. One of the ladies I was walking with went forward and said: "Mr Lee, we have brought the girl as you requested" He turned around, looked at me and beckoned on me to come over with his hands. I did and moved closer to him. "You are Hiroki's daughter aren't you?", he asked.... I responded with a nod in agreement with him. " What happened to your parents?", he asked again..... This time I looked down and couldn't respond. Tears formed in my eyes and I began to sniffle..... "Raven" he called one the ladies who brought me to his office and said: " Is she ready for training? " "She has been in the basement for the past three months and has totally adapted to a life of loneliness. She is fit to begin training sir", she responded...... "Take her to the training facility and ensure she's settled in well. She will become a very valuable asset to our work later", the man said and told us to leave. We walked out of the office and were in the elevator again. This time one of the ladies pushed the "G" button in the elevator and it started moving downwards. After a few seconds, the elevator stopped moving and the door opened. We walked out of it and outside the building. I was too small to climb into  the van by myself, so one of the ladies helped me in. I took a second to observe my environment and it didn't look familiar at all. Miss Raven seemed to have noticed my amazement and said to me: "Welcome to Texas baby"...... All my life as a child I had only been in Japan. I had never even traveled out of Yokohama before and I was now in Texas. I didn't know what to expect in this new world I was exploring. I had to keep using the pain of my parents death as an anchor so as not to loose myself totally in the wave of new developments coming my way. In about 35 minutes we were at the gates of a facility that looked like an abandoned prison. Raven spoke to someone through the radio in the car and a response was sent to her : "Crayfish or Lobsters?" She responded: "Mr Lee likes none of those"...... It was a trick question that was used to verify the identity of people who came into the facility so as to know those who were Mr. Lee's associates. The gate was automatically opened from inside the control centre since she responded to the trick question correctly. We were now in one of Mr. Lee's most secure facilities in the US. We entered and I saw children like me numbering to about 500. Apparently I was not the only child who's had a dreadful childhood and had been abducted by these evil people. Miss Raven took me to the office of the director in charge of that facility and told him all Mr. Lee had told her. He ordered an officer nearby to take me to my own cell (they called rooms cells in that facility) and to get me food or anything I needed. He complied and led me out of the office. On my way to my own cell, I saw hundreds of children being trained to fight. Most of them were probably within the range of 8 to 12 years. The officer who was leading me to my own cell stopped walking and signalled for me to go in the direction of his hands into a cell. I obeyed and went inside. He locked the door behind me and asked if I needed anything. I said I didn't and he walked away. I was scared and worried that I was only taken from one prison to another, but I caught a sense of relief when I remembered that there were other children here too and I noticed that this cell had a window through which I could watch the sun rise and set. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
