My eyes flutter open, at the feeling of small sticky hands around my face. Looking down, I could see the face of my silly five-year-old. His lips are blue and I'm a hundred percent sure it's because he's been eating some type of blue candy. He stares at me, smiling. "Are you up mommy?" He questions, looking into my eyes
"I am now babes," I say, sitting up. My eyelids are heavy and I'm still sleepy. A sigh escapes past my lips. "Who gave you candy?"
Ej licks his lips. "Daddy." He answers, giggling. "And he told me to wake you up." You could tell he was hyper.
Looks like I was going to have to kill Elijah.
I groaned, hitting my head on the pillow. "You know you're not supposed to eat candy, Elliot. I don't know why you took it from your daddy."
Elliot pouts, standing on top of the bed. "Daddy said, kids are meant to have candy."
My eyebrows raise. "Did he now," I say, getting off the bed. Spreading my arms wide, Elliot jumps in between them, wrapping his short legs around my waist. Placing my hand under his butt, together we walk out of the room and towards the place where you could hear laughter.
Walking into the living room, my eyes widen at the scene before me. Elijah is shirtless as he passes drinks to my girls. I watch as they all laugh at a lame joke he tells them. "What the hell is going on?" I ask, sitting Elliot down on the sofa. "And who the hell told y'all that you guys can drink in my living room?"
Michelle quickly puts her drink down, on my coffee table. "Elijah said you wouldn't mind." She says, ratting Elijah out.
I look up, glaring at Elijah. "Did he now." Elijah only stares at me in silence. My eyes wander down, looking at his bare chest. He had a nice set of abs. He catches me staring and smirks. I glared even harder at him. "Elijah doesn't pay for this house, I do. So don't listen to anything he says when it comes down to this place."
Elijah opens his mouth to say something but is cut off by Elliot jumping on the coffee table. "Mommy look! I'm just like daddy now." He says, taking off his shirt.
"Elliot James Washington, get off my table before I get my belt!" I yell, causing Elliot to quickly jump off the table. It was the first time I yelled at him, which kinda shocked me. Walking up to Elijah I quickly grab him by his arm and pull him away from the living room. Once we're away from everyone, I let him go before yelling at him. "Why would you give Elliot candy?!"
Elijah shrugs. "He's a kid, and kids eat candy." He says like he didn't do anything wrong. "And if you want to be technical, the money that you pay this house with is mine. So this is my house."
"Bullshit!" I curse. "Once you sent that money to me, it became mine. Do you want to know why? Because once you give someone something, it belongs to the person you gave it too."
Elijah's lips, twitch upwards in a smile. "I guess you have a point. Therefore, I apologize for using the house ownership against you. But I'm not apologizing for giving my son candy."
"Our son Elijah." I remind him. "And he doesn't get to have candy. He gets hyper easily. As you can see," She points at a dancing Elliot. "You broke him."
Elijah rolled his eyes. "Brandy, I didn't break him. It's just candy, he'll be fine." He walks towards Elliot, picking him up. "Hey buddy, why don't you go watch TV, while mommy and I speak. And put your shirt back on."
Elliot nods, licking his lips. "Okay, daddy." His father sets him down and he quickly runs into his room closing the bedroom door.
Elijah looks back at Brandy. "Come on, we have business to handle." He says, before stepping inside the living room. Brandy walks behind him, her arms crossed as she takes a seat on her sofa. "Alright ladies, as I was saying before I was interrupted."
"Can you put your shirt back on," I say interrupting him again. "The girls can't concentrate."
Savannah quickly objects, shaking her head. "Girl stop lying." She says practically drooling. "He's fine."
"Very fine." Mia chirps in, fanning herself with her own hands.
Elijah looks at me. "The girls don't seem to mine." He claps his hands together. "Anyways as I was saying, girls. I was in prison because I was framed by my cousin. Long story short he's the reason why I broke out of prison, and why I'm getting my revenge." Elijah points at me. "Now your boss here, she trusts you guys and that's good because it means you all are trustworthy." He says. "My plan of revenge is stealing all the money that my cousin ever put his blood sweat and tears into. And I'm not talking about, taking some of it, I'm talking about all of it. All twenty billion."
The girls gasp and my mouth drops. "Twenty billion dollars?" Mia asks. "How the hell do you expect us to steal twenty billion dollars?"
Elijah smiles. "Good question. We'll get the money by using our skills." He says, simply. "Mia, Brandy tells me you're good with numbers which is good because we'll need it for the safe. Savannah, I hear you're good with technology which is something we'll need. And Michelle you have connections." Elijah's eyes fall on me. "Brandy, before you dropped out of college you were majoring in Acting. I'm sure you can put them acting skills to use."
My eyebrows knit together. The only way he'd know that is if he did a background check on me. Because I've never told anyone about me going to college. "We need to talk after this," I say, sternly.
Elijah nods. "I was hoping we do." He continues. "This five-man operation has to play out right. I've been planning this since the first day I landed in prison. So everyone and I mean, everyone needs to be on top of their shit." Elijah hands Mia a book about safes and lock picking. "The things that I'm giving you, you have one week to learn about them." He hands Savannah a book about hacking and coding. "No more than a week." He gives Michelle a list.
Michelle looks at the list in confusion. "You expect me to get these things in a week?" She asks, reading over the list again.
"I do," Elijah answers, before walking towards me. He hands me a picture of a guy, that causes me to raise my eyebrow.
The man in the picture is tall, he has a small tan and is very well built. Just by the way he's standing in his clean suit, you can tell he's dangerous. "Who's this?"
"He's my cousin and he's also you're target." Elijah answers. "For the whole week, I'll be helping you study him. You'll learn what he likes and dislikes, what he eats, how he sleeps, his job. And also, how to get him to trust you."
"I have to learn all this in a week?"
Elijah nods his head. "Yes. We have to meet our deadline. No setbacks, none at all." Elijah sits down. "As much as I would love the house to be our place of work, it's dangerous. Therefore, we need a different place for us to work. Someplace discreet."
Savannah pipes up. "We can use one of the abandoned construction sites. People never step foot on that place."
"I like that idea," Elijah says, nodding. "We're also going to need unmarked cars."
"I've got that covered," Michelle says.
"Good. Now, down to the important part. My cousin stores his money in a bank, along with a house, but the house is only phase two in this plan. First, we'll rob his bank because believe it or not it's the easiest to rob. We'll go in and we'll take only his money. Why? Because his money is the only money inside the bank that is unmarked. That means no getting greedy." He says. "You guys are women, which is an advantage because the cops won't even see you guys coming. I haven't figured out who will be where that's why it's very important for everyone to write down their weight and limits. I need them back by tomorrow."
I raise my hands. "What about how we split the money?" I ask.
Elijah sighs. "Since it's a five-man operation and twenty billion dollars the money will be split by five, meaning everyone will be walking away with four billion dollars." He lifts up his finger. "But that's only money from the bank."
Confusion hits Mia. "I'm sorry, what?"
"When we rob the bank, we'll be walking away with twenty billion dollars that will be split by five. Each person will be walking away with four billion dollars." Elijah explains. "But when we rob the house, we'll be taking a million dollars."
"Which means once we split that million-dollar, we'll be walking away with two hundred thousand dollars," Michelle says.
"That's a lot of money." Savannah and I say at the same time.
Elijah nods. "Indeed it is. And when this plan work, it'll be our money."
"How are you so sure, that this plan will work?" I ask him.
He smirks. "Because it will." Is his only response. "Savannah, go check out that abandon construction site that you were talking about. If it's good to use send Brandy the address. And for everyone else, go home and start studying what you need. We'll meet back here tomorrow night at eight. Please, don't be late I won't except that from you all. Also, if anyone doesn't want to be a part of this or, doesn't think they got what it takes, tonight is the night to bail."
"We can handle it," Mia says, speaking up.
Elijah nods. "And another thing, I advise you all to never betray me. It's the last thing you'd ever want to do and it's the last thing you will ever do." Elijah says, seriousness laced in his voice. "Be safe and be discrete, this meeting is dismissed." He walks out of the living room, leaving us all sitting on the couch.
"He's scary," Mia says, standing up. "I like scary."
Savannah chuckles. "Don't we all."
I stand up, playfully rolling my eyes. "You guys are weird. But I love y'all."
Michelle tilts her head and her face scrunches up. "Ehhh, I guess we love you too."
I nudge her, before wrapping my hand around her. "You guys sure you want to do this?"
Savannah nods. "Girl, with all that money involved we'd be crazy not too."
"Amen to that," Michelle says, taking her keys out her purse. "Come on guys, we have to go. There are things that I have to get done."
"I'll walk y'all out," I say, walking towards the front door. Michelle and Savannah both say goodbye, and walk outside, while Mia stays back. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just. Are you alright?" She asks worriedly. "And is Yonnie alright?"
"I'm alright and so is Yonnie. We won't be seeing her for a while though. I'm gonna admit her into a clinic, something that'll help her with the abuse and the drugs."
Mia nods. "And JD?"
I shrug. "He's fine, didn't even put up much a fight when I came over to get Yonnie." I lie. "It was so surprising." Mia stares at me for a moment before letting out a breath.
"Alright." She says, before walking out the door. "See you tomorrow night."
"See you," I say, before closing the door. Letting out a sigh, my back leans against the door.
"Why didn't you tell her the truth?" Elijah asks, scaring the crap out of me. "You don't trust her?"
"I trust her, just to a certain extent." Locking the door, my feet move, leading me towards the kitchen. "How come you did a background check on me?"
Elijah leans against the kitchen counter. "Needed to know more about, had little time to ask. Plus, a background check was needed in order for me to make my decision."
"I got a question?"
"And I have an answer."
"How come you didn't just stay with me after the night we met?"
Elijah clears his throat. I'm guessing because the question was so unexpected. "There were things that needed to be done. And no offense, but staying would take up too much of my time." He says. "Not because of the reason you think, but because if I didn't leave, you'd probably be pregnant with triplets."
Trying my best to hold it in, I burst out laughing clutching my stomach. Elijah bursts out laughing too, his laughter deep and rumbling. "You're so damn corny."
Elijah smiles. "Corney is good." He sticks his hand out for me to take. "Come on, we have a hyper kid to take care of."
"Yeah, no thanks to you," I say taking his hand, together we walk to Elliot's room trying out best to calm him.
