CHAPTER EIGHT
A lot had changed for Chloe in the last twenty minutes. She knew her life had changed a few days ago when she ran into Xander. The revelation at the coffee shop about Xander’s fortune altered the game. To her, Mr. Manning was a chance encounter that had led to something unexpected. Every time she interacted with him, be it by text, phone or face-to-face, there seemed to be an evolution, of sorts. Things were moving at a rapid pace.
She knew he was successful, but had vastly underestimated just how wealthy he was, and was about to be.
Neither of them had planned on spending very long in each other’s company this afternoon. Xander had a colossal amount of work ahead of him. His company demanded he remained focused.
