Sapphire

A long holiday

Opal and Garnet helped Sapphire load her things in the back of aunt Wendy's car.

"It's so nice you get to go to London for a holiday big sister. I wish I could come"Opal said.

"Yeah you'll be having all the fun without us" Garnet said jokingly.

Sapphire smiled weakly. If only they knew the actual reason she was leaving. It wasn't her will to go away from them but she had to.

"So when are you coming back? Opal asked loading the final luggage.

"I can't tell girls but it's gonna be a long holiday "

"Aw don't get too comfortable without us "Garnet said frowning a bit. Sapphire giggled.

"I don't think I'll ever be comfortable without you two"She held the both of them and planted a kiss on their foreheads.

"Be back before Christmas though"

"I'll see what I can do about It"

Aunt Wendy and her parents came out of the house.

"Are you ready Sapphire "Wendy asked. She was a very beautiful woman. Sapphire had ginger hair like her, she also had some her features. Like her flawless snowflake skin,her small succulent lips and her angelic voice. Sapphire seemed just like a younger version of her.

"Yes I'm ready"

"Kay,hop in the car"

Sapphire got in the car.

"Sapphire don't forget to send us pictures"Garnet said holding her hand.

"I will. I just wished I had told Sally goodbye "Sapphire sighed and thought of her friends. No one besides her and her parents knew why she was actually leaving.

"Well if you wanna say goodbye,i think that car would be an obstruction Saffy" A voice said from behind the car.

No one called her Saffy besides one person. It was Sally. Sapphire got down hurriedly and hugged her. She saw Xander ,Nora and Ted there too.

"You didn't actually think I'd let my best friend leave without a good bye, did you. I saw your messages last night? You were talking like we'd never see again. "

Sapphire smiled.

you have no idea.

"Hey guys. I'm gonna miss you all"She hugged them all.

"We're gonna miss you too Sapphire" Xander said.

"Especially me .Come back soon babe "Nora said and pecked her cheek.

"Thanks.....

"Sapphire you aunt's waiting!

"Oh I gotta go guys but I'll text you guys. Love you guys"Sapphire ran to the car and got in.

"You ready?Her aunt asked.

"Yeah I think "She answered with a shrug.

Aunt Wendy started the engine and the car began to move. Sapphire looked out the car to see her friends,parents and sisters waving at her. She waved at them too.

"We love you Sapphire, come back soon! Her sisters shouted in unison.

Sapphire felt a pain in her heart .She smiled at them. She wanted to tell them she loved them too but she was too far from them. She let her body relax in her seat tiredly and said in her lowest tone.

"I love you guys too"

A tear slide down her face.

"You okay dear? Wendy asked.

"Oh I'm.... okay..... I just... She wiped her face.

Wendy laughed gently.

"I know, home sick already. It happens ,but don't worry. You'll get used to it. It happens to almost everyone"

"I'm fine really "

"Don't worry you'll love it in London. Maybe when we get there we'll drive around a little "Wendy suggested bubbly. She was very friendly and so nice. Sapphire had always liked her among all her aunts. She was older than her mum but looked younger. She was such a nice lady but Sapphire wondered why she wasn't married yet.

Sapphire only nodded to her suggestion.

She looked out the window.

Wendy peered into her face.

"Come on, turn that frown upside down. You've got to leave the nest at sometime.

"I know, I would have been happy if it were in different circumstances"Sapphire said too low to hear.

"Well it's for the best .Now isn't it?

Her aunt heard her.

what does she mean it's for the best. Did mum and dad tell her the reason I had to go.

"What do you mean. Did my parents tell you anything?

"Apart from things concerning your school, nothing else"

"Then why did you say it's for the best. ?Sapphire asked determined to know what she meant.

"Sometimes it's best not knowing dear"

Sapphire sensed she was hiding something. She opened her mouth to say something but Wendy quickly cut in.

"We're already at the airport. Come down"She removed her seat belt and got out of the car.

Sapphire let her shoulders drop.

well that ends the discussion.

Sapphire came down and walked up to her aunt.

"What are you gonna do about your car?

"Oh that old piece of junk. My friend Lola will come pick it up. I've got a better one at home "

"London? I thought this was your home. "

"Home's not necessarily a place. It's the people you care about that make up a home. All my closest friends are in London. So that's my home. Let's go"

She was right. Sapphire missed her home already. She wished this will all be over soon.

Sapphire walked beside her aunt. The place was so filled with people, someone could get lost. Her aunt was walking so fast, she couldn't keep up. She was been pushed around by so many people. She struggled through the crowd till she saw her aunt and her eye caught something. It was a birthmark on her aunt's neck. It was the same birthmark she had on her right arm. There was no difference .How was that possible?She was deep in thoughts when she felt a tender hand pull her away from the crowd. It was Wendy.

"Why were you just standing there?

"Oh I'm sorry. I couldn't keep up with your pace"

"Hmmph .You could have gone missing I'm not letting you out of my site again" Wendy held her hand and they moved along.

They waited till their flight was ready and boarded the plane. Sapphire sat close to her aunt who was reading a magazine. She felt sleepy and relaxed her body on her seat. She turned her head to look at her aunt. The birthmark caught her attention again. It was like a tattoo of a scorpion with a shield behind. It was a mystery how she and her aunt had the same mark. With that,she gently fell asleep.
