Chapter 10
Ray's POV
I smiled as I started to strum my guitar. I played a song with overflowing feelings. I end it with a final strum and I heard a clap.
"Hey." I greeted him.
"That's awesome." He said.
"Thanks." I shyly replied. I'm not that good though but he praised me.
"Uhm… Amethyst, are you free this evening?" He asked.
“Oh, I don't know." I answered, a little flustered.
Well I really don't know. I forgot things then it'll just pop in my head later on.
"Eh? Why?" asked again.
"Let's see, I have a meeting with the Student Council this afternoon at 1 then back to class at 2, going home at 4, watering our plants, doing homeworks. Oh! There, I'm free by 7." I said as I enumerated the things I'll do later.
"Cool. Meet me at the park at 7." Rio said, smiling brightly.
"What're we gonna do?" I asked confused, he looked at me then scratched the back of his head. Oh, and is he blushing?
"Just... gonna hang out. So see you?"
"Sure."
Then he walked out of the room and I continued what I'm doing earlier.

It's 6:50 in the evening. I still have not picked out clothes to wear.
"Ray! I thought you're going out? Are you ready?" Aunt asked as she knocked on the door.
"Yeah. I’ll be out in a sec." I said and picked up the cream colored sweater and a black pants. This should be fine, right?
Why am I so all worked out anyway? Is it because I'm going out? Or because I'm going out with Rio? Hmm... maybe because... I'm going out for the first time in a while? Yeah, it's because it’s like that.
I got out of my room and saw Maxim went inside his room. I still felt bad for spitting the water on him the other day, I was just shocked. I never thought that Kaven would fall in love with my cousin and want my cousin to be his boyfriend. I’m not questioning it, Max is a wonderful guy, I just didn’t see them interacting much so I really don't know where Kaven’s feelings are from.
I can't have a boyfriend or a girlfriend either. If I do, then I'm not keeping my promise to my mom anymore.
"Mom I promise I'll share this suffering with you, I won't let you suffer alone. If you're suffering like this then I don't have the right to be happy."
That's what I promised her before leaving them. I was sent here by my dad to study and he said he'll take care of mom. She's in a coma, I really love my mom, she always thinks of me first before anything. From that day on, I did things for other's happiness and ignored mine. I have to be selfless.
Rio's POV
"Rio!" Amethyst said as he got near me.
"Hey." I greeted him. "Want some ice cream?"
"Of course." He said as he smiled. Oh that dimpled smile.~
We went inside the ice cream parlor nearby then bought ice cream of course. He's so cute eating his ice cream, he's like a kid. I chuckled at the sight.
"What?" He asked.
"Nothing." I answered.
He really looks so innocent. I want to take care of him. My heart's getting wild from beating. Having him near me makes me really nervous. As an alpha in our pack I used to be calm at any situation but being calm with him is just impossible for me.
"Rio, did you think being selfless is good?" He suddenly asked.
We're now walking at the river side.
"Hmm, it depends." I answered.
"How?" He asked again.
"Well, if you really love someone then you're really gonna be selfless." Right, I'm ready to become selfless for you. "But then sometimes you have to be selfish in order to feel happiness. Being too selfless is bad though." I continued. I'll be selfish when it comes to you, because you're my mate.
"But what if being selfless makes you happy?" He asked again.
"I think that's impossible. Doing something for others is good but then it's their happiness not yours. You're throwing away your happiness when you're being selfless." I said.
"Then what if their happiness is your happiness, too?" He asked again.
"Then you don't have to be selfless. You just have to be selfless for those people who can't stand alone. If you can make them happy without being selfless then that means that person loves you, too and he or she just needs you by their side." I said.
He just nodded, smiled and finished his ice cream.
"You know what, Amethyst?" I started another conversation.
"What is it ?" He asked.
This is it I have to tell him this time.
"I really love-"
"Wait. What's that?!" He cut me off and pointed to our front.
There I saw him. s**t! What's he doing? This is bad!
