CHAPTER 19

(Those I Cannot Understand) BRIANNA WOKE UP on her hangover headache. What pisses her off more was the tiny ray of sun peeking on the curtain of her room, striking her eyes. She flipped on the soft mattress, making a slight wave on it, and plugging her white pillows on her head. With the throbbing feeling on her head, she released a growl. The sound of keys clanging made her stop and sit up on the bed to look around her room, her hand on her head. Her eyes squinted, trying to make sure she is seeing the man sitting on the couch of her bedroom. He was watching his phone, playing a video of something maybe so funny. "Karen?! What are you doing here?" His eyes moved to her from the phone. While she moved her gaze to the door where a knock was heard. "Miss Brianna, wake up. Sir Kairen, please get out of there!" She heard Justin outside. She should be happy to hear his voice but suddenly remembered what happened yesterday. "I got the keys of your bedroom." Kairen showed her the set of keys on his index finger. "You don't want to talk to him right now, right?" Her head bowed for a moment then returned to him. "What are you doing here?" "Well, it's normal for me to visit my fianceé's room. Right?" "Well, I'm sleeping. And may I just remind you that we're just pretending." "May I also remind you of what happened last night." His lips curved in smirk. Her eyebrows crumpled in confusion, trying to remember what he's talking about. He tilted his head pointing his lower body. Her eyes automatically set on the part between his legs. Her face started to feel hot and showed disgust. Her hand grabbed her pillow and abruptly throw on his face. "That did not happen! Nothing happened last night," she insisted. When the pillow fell on his lap, a grumpy Kairen faced her. "D*mn, Bryan! You really are a guy. Don't you know how to be gentle?" "Tell me. Nothing happened," she keeps repeating. His hand held out his phone. "I even got a video of you here last night." "What?!" Then she heard her voice singing on the video. With heavy footsteps, she strode towards him, reaching his phone that he immediately moved away. He smirked when their face came near each other. "You just woke up and now you're on top of me. I never expect to see this side of yours," he said playfully. That made her back out, stepoing a few meters away from the perv guy. "Give me that. Delete it!" she ordered. "I will. If you behave," he said, showing his evil face, obviously playing something evil in his mind. "I will," she gaved up. "At least tell me it's not something that I will be ashamed of the rest of my life." "Like what would it be?" "Like making out with you?" unsure, she asked. "Of course not. We both don't like each other. And kissing is a taboo for us. The first time was just an emergency." She rolled her eyes. "You wanna know what you did here?" he pointed the part between his legs. "You just throw up here. Don't you remember?" "Oh, that? I don't." "That was the most disgusting thing that ever happen to me." "Well. Whatever." "That's all you can say?" He is obviously feeling his head aches, like her. He took a sigh before talking again. "Get ready. We're going out." "I don't want to." "So, you're locking yourself here, knowing that he was just outside that door?" "Nothing's different. I can see him before I can get out of the house." She crossed her hands on hos chest. "Who says we'll go through your door?" She gave her a confused look. "We'll be taking our way out on your balcony. Sounds fun?" She can't deny the thrill she felt on his idea. Might as well do something with this guy, rather than staying at home, where her heart can be shattered to see Justin. "Sure. Wait me." Kairen really waited for her at the balcony. Knowing that she's ready, he moved on the side of the balcony without waiting for her. Luckily, she had done that too many times, back when she still works at the convenience store. And unexpectedly, Kairen knows how to go down from there. He did not even bother to help her knowing that she's a girl. Well, as he always says, he doesn't look at her as a woman. They got out the mansion right before Juston knew that they were going out. An hour passed, they arrived at their destination. It was on the outskirts of San Tiago, behind the vast area of highly maintained forest. There, lying a place she never expected. Man size wooden boards stiffly stood vertically not far from where they stood. They were on an entryway to a building covered in mostly glass walls, making it so modernized. Some men were practicing shooting and others sparring. It was a wide shooting area owned by the Ayasaki family. Not to mention, it was built exclusively for the famiky also. "What are we doing here?" she asked him. "I thought you might wanna like here." "Bri!" A sharp familiar voice rang on her ears. She turned around to see Chang, who was walking very fast along with her boyfriend, Jinro. She greeted her with a tight hug, not mentioning about what she had gone through. But even though she will not say about it, she knows that her friend already knows. "Are you ready to fire a gun?" Kairen asked, his gaze on the men practicing. "What?" "Aren't you angry? Might wanna put all of your emotions on it." "Cool! Then, let's go!" she said in excitement she can't hide. They went inside the building. Her jaw almost dropped at what her eyes settled on. Is she in a museum of guns? They do have almost everything, from handguns to machine guns, from grenades and other weapons that she can only see in games. A wide range of guns were neatly displayed all over the place, from the cabinets to the walls. She felt that she was in a collector's place that time. Her feet uneasily moved from here and there, satisfying her eyes full of amazement. "Whoa! Can I touch them?" she asked. Kairen signaled her to go on. "Told ya. She'll love it here," Chang whispered. "These are Berettas, right?" she asked, hyped, while holding two of them and aiming. On her right, a Beretta M12, a sub-machine gun; and on her left, a Beretta M9, also known as Beretta M92F, a service pistol that is very popular because the US military commonly uses it. Not to mention, it is mass produced. Her family doesn't hold any businesses related to guns. But they buy guns in bulk for the family members. That made her crave to hold things like those for she wasn't allowed by her grandpa. "Careful. Those are loaded," Kairen reminded. She put it down and moved to other cabinets of firearms where she saw Carbines, from M4, M1, M5A2, and other rifles that she never thought existed. Suddenly, her feet froze as her eyes settled to a set firearms that looks astonishing. Her eyes shines in too much excitement as she felt her hand on those big firearms. "Whoa! D*mn! Bryan?!" Kairen blurted, while keeping his head down upon turning to her. Even Jinro did what he did, except for Chang who only took a step backward. "Kanojo wa kowai. [Your girlfriend is scary.]" uttered Jinro who was sitting down the floor in shock. She was just holding a RPG-7, a rocket propelled grenade launcher that has a warhead attached to it and ready to be blasted. "This is awesome! I wanna learn how to blast this thing." "Yeah. But not here," Kai said as he strode to her, taking the RPG from her. "Are you trying to kill us all here?" "I'm not. I just wanna learn how to fire that." She step towards a bigger one, a FGM-148 Javelin, and tried to lift it but she can't. "Oh! This one's heavy," she commented. "Of course. That weighs around 30kg with its warhead," said Kairen. "I want this godly weapon," she proclaimed. "You're not going to a war, Bryan." Kairen released a sigh and pulled her away from the weapon. He took a handgun from the shelf and hand it to her. "It's a Glock 17, very light and accurate, even a small person can handle it. It is very easy to use." "But it's boring," she complained. "I'm not allowing you to handle that," he said. She rolled her eyes. "How about you? You want to try practice shooting?" asked Jinro to Chang. "No. I'm okay baby. Being with you is enough," she answered. Kairen got all the things they needed and headed to the shooting range. She just put the protective gear for her eyes when Kairen asked her to step towards him, which she did. "Hold this," said Kairen, referring to the Glock 17. "First, you need to make sure the magazine is loaded." "Okay," she answered seriously. "Firmly grip on the gun and aim.Take your time. Line it up on your target and squeeze the trigger whenever you make your aim. Okay?" She nodded as Kairen put a protective gear on her ears. She lifted her arms and aimed at him, who suddenly raised his hands. "Not on me. On the target, Bryan!" She chuckled before aiming on the target. "Concentrate," Kairen mouted as he guided her arms for firing. She took a sigh before pulling the trigger the first time. "Bullseye," she murmurs as she confidently aimed the middle of the head on the board. "Cool! One more." Adjusting and stretching her neck, she pulled the trigger several times more. A few of the bullets went out the board but that wasn't bad for her first time. She laughed at what she just did. "This is awesome! Can we come here again?" she asked, unknowing that a smile plastered on her lips. "Kirei. [Beautiful.]" he whispered. "Huh? You're saying something?" she asked as she took off the gear on her ears. "Nandemonai. [Nothing.]" he said. "I'm reminding you, it's Japanese. Not Chinese." "I did not said anything. Besides, what's the difference? You guys both have same eyes." She put the gun down on the table and removed the gears on her eyes. "I remembered you don't talk only in your language. I heard you at the party. You're talking other languages too. You can also teach me those, aside from firing a gun." "Okay." He crossed his arms on his chest. "Ni hao. [Chinese: Hello] Arigato. [Japanese: Thank you] S--sa--" He hesitated to say the word but went with it anyway. "S--Sa--sarangheo. [Korean: I--I--lo--love you]" He finished the word and cleared his throat. The words he mentioned were familiar to her. But she can't remember. Maybe because she wasn't interested in her language lessons back then. "I can't understand. What are those words?" His jaw dropped. "Seriously? Weren't you the one who told me those words before? And you don't even know the meaning of those? Hontoni baka desu ka? [Are you really an i***t?]" "Did I said it before? What can I do? It's the few words I only remembered," she said, innocently smiling.
