SYNOPSIS Trisha was never chosen. Not by her family… Not by the man she loved… And not even by the husband she married under a contract that was never meant to involve love. Behind her silence was a life no one knew—a woman of power, brilliance, and secrets. But when betrayal strikes again and danger threatens everything she has left, Trevor’s cold words become the final blow: “This marriage was never about love.” That night, Trisha disappears. Without a trace. Without a goodbye. What no one knows… is that she didn’t leave alone. Three years later, she returns—no longer invisible… but unstoppable.

Chapter 1: The night she was chosen last.
The chandelier lights above the grand hall shimmered like stars, but Trisha felt none of their warmth. Her fingers tightened slightly around the edge of her dress as murmurs of admiration filled the room. Tonight was supposed to be perfect. Tonight, Sebastian was going to propose. At least… that was what everyone had been whispering. “Smile,” Annabel’s soft voice came from beside her, sweet but sharp beneath the surface. “People are watching.” Trisha forced a small smile, though her chest felt tight. “I know.” Annabel’s lips curved, her eyes glinting with something unreadable. “You should be happy. Not everyone gets a man like Sebastian.” Trisha didn’t reply. She didn’t need to. She had spent years learning that silence was safer than speaking, especially in this family. From across the room, Sebastian stood surrounded by his friends, a glass of wine in hand, his laughter easy and carefree. He looked perfect, as always—charming, confident, admired. The kind of man everyone wanted to be close to. The kind of man she had loved… quietly, carefully. Her phone buzzed in her clutch. She glanced down. Come to the lounge upstairs. I have a surprise for you. —Sebastian Her heart skipped. This was it. Without drawing attention, she excused herself and made her way toward the staircase. Each step felt heavier than the last, her thoughts racing despite her calm expression. She had never asked for much—never demanded love, attention, or recognition. But tonight… just once… she allowed herself to hope. The hallway upstairs was quiet, the noise from the party fading into a distant hum. She followed the familiar path to the private lounge, her fingers brushing against the door handle. She paused. There were voices inside. A soft laugh. A low murmur. Trisha pushed the door open. Everything stopped. Her breath. Her thoughts. Her world. Sebastian was there. But not alone. Annabel. Her sister’s back was pressed against the wall, Sebastian’s hands gripping her waist as their lips moved together like it was the most natural thing in the world. For a moment, Trisha couldn’t move. Couldn’t think. Couldn’t breathe. The door creaked slightly, and they pulled apart. Annabel turned first, her expression shifting for only a second before settling into something almost amused. Sebastian didn’t look surprised. He looked… caught. “Trisha,” he said, straightening his shirt like nothing had happened. “You’re here.” Her fingers loosened around her clutch. It slipped from her hand, hitting the floor with a dull sound that echoed louder than it should have. “What is this?” Her voice came out quieter than she expected. Annabel tilted her head, her lips curving faintly. “Oh. You weren’t supposed to see this yet.” Something inside Trisha cracked. “Yet?” she repeated. Sebastian exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “Look, it’s not what you think.” A hollow laugh escaped her. “Then explain it to me.” Silence. Then one of the guys lounging on the couch chuckled. “Man, just tell her already.” Another added, “Yeah, the bet’s basically over anyway.” Trisha’s gaze snapped toward them. “Bet?” Sebastian’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t deny it. Annabel crossed her arms casually. “It was just a game. Nothing serious.” The room spun slightly. “A game?” Trisha whispered. Sebastian looked at her then—not with guilt, not with love, but with something distant. Detached. “You were never supposed to take it this far.” Her chest tightened painfully. “Take what far?” “Our relationship,” he said flatly. “It started as a bet. That’s all.” The words hit harder than any slap. A bet. Everything she had felt… everything she had endured silently… reduced to nothing. Her gaze shifted to Annabel. “And you?” Annabel smiled, unapologetic. “I just took what was mine.” Something sharp burned behind Trisha’s eyes, but no tears fell. She had learned long ago that crying changed nothing. Footsteps approached behind her. Her parents of course. Her mother’s voice came first. “What is going on here?” Trisha turned slightly, her voice steady despite the storm inside her. “Ask your daughter.” Her mother’s eyes flicked between them before settling on Annabel, instantly softening. “Annabel?” Annabel stepped forward, her voice trembling just enough to sound convincing. “I didn’t mean for this to happen… but Sebastian and I—” “That’s enough,” her father cut in, his tone cold as his gaze landed on Trisha. “Stop causing a scene.” Trisha froze. “I’m causing a scene?” she asked quietly. Her mother’s expression hardened. “You’ve always been like this. Difficult. Problematic. Can you not ruin your sister’s happiness for once?” The words were familiar. Too familiar. Trisha let out a slow breath, something inside her finally going still. Completely still. She bent down, picked up her clutch, and straightened. No anger. No tears. No shouting. Just silence. “Congratulations,” she said calmly, her gaze moving from Annabel to Sebastian. Then she turned and walked out. Behind her, laughter resumed. Voices continued. Life moved on as if nothing had happened. But for Trisha… Everything had just ended.
