I hate parties like this, it's not an actual party, but it is a gathering of packs. I'm more of a tomboy, so wearing a dress always makes me feel uncomfortable. This ball was just a reason to get all the higher ups in one room to try to form new alliances. My names Sage, I'm daughter to Beta James Morgan of the Black River pack. I'm the youngest child out of two. I'm required to show up to these things because as daughter to beta I can't just do what I want. The night was going slow, I've mingled with people, said hi to soon to be alpha's and beta's. I was getting bored, it was almost 10 pm when I got hit with the most delicious scent I've ever smelled. It was the smell of eucalyptus and peppermint. I spent an hour searching like a mad woman for that scent. I was walking the hall to my room after I felt defeated in locating my mate. I was busy beating myself up when a hand grabbed me and pulled me into a dark closet. There were sparks everywhere so I knew that this was my mate. All night I searched for this guy and he finds me. What are the odds of that? His lips crashed on mine and it was the best feeling in the world. They were soft, like kissing a cloud. Before I knew it he ripped my panties off and had his way with me. I wasn't a virgin, nowadays no one really is, and beliefs such as saving yourself for your mate's was kind of taboo. Just as quick as it happened he was gone. He didn't even speak one word to me, but somehow I felt complete with myself. I didn't even question him, never asked his name or even what pack he came from. As soon as I got to my room I hopped in the shower to wash the night away. I quickly dried myself off and put on a large shirt I stole from my brother and a pair of sleeping shorts. He was a whooping 6'7 while I was 5'10. I look more like my mom with long black hair and a curvy athletic body. My eyes looked like my dad's, a deep emerald color. Jace looked more like my dad with chestnut hair that he kept messy, and was very muscular, with soft blue eyes. His shirts were comfortable to sleep in that's why I stole it. Once my head hit the pillow I was out for the night. When I woke up I didn't expect today to be one of the worst days of my life. I had to get ready to greet everyone who stayed for breakfast. I quickly took a body shower and ran to my closet. I decided that I would wear a yellow sun dress with some white flats. I styled my hair in a high ponytail than ran downstairs to meet my family. 'Slow down Sage you're going to hurt yourself again.' Jace joked and I stuck my tongue out at him. One time I managed to fall the last two steps and he can't let that go ever. After 30 minutes I got hit with eucalyptus and peppermint. 'Mate mate it's mate.' my wolf onyx yipped. 'Alpha Greyson, Beta James always a pleasure.' the mysterious man I've never met Said. 'Ahh Alpha Liam it's been a while.' Alpha greyson said shaking his hand and my dad followed suit. 'Gentlemen this is my son Gage, he's here to learn the ropes as he'll be taking over as soon as he finds his mate.' Alpha Liam said. At that moment my eyes locked with my mate who I learned is Gage. Something didn't seem right though as soon as he looked at me he quickly looked away. I was pleading with him to look at me once more to signal to him to talk. He never did, he acted like he didn't even know me. It felt like he was rejecting me and that stung a little but I wouldn't let him know that. I was pulled from my thoughts as my dad introduced us. 'Alpha Liam, this is my son Jace and my daughter Sage. Jace will be taking over as beta soon and Sage is to start learning to become one of the pack doctors.' My dad puffed up with pride. 'No I didn't forget, my mate janice.' he winked at my mom. 'See son you need a mate like Sage, someone who wants to become something unlike that girl Ashley you always have around.' That was it wasn't it? His heart had to belong to someone else. He would never really accept me? 'Excuse me I need some fresh air.' I said without looking at anyone and rushing to the garden. I sat on a bench near a tree at the far end of the garden, my hiding spot, when someone snuck up on me. 'Can I sit? We need to talk.' it was Gage, he came. 'Sure help yourself.' I said not even bothering to look at him. 'Look I know you're my mate but I don't need a mate not right now at least.' he spoke with no emotions. He gave me a quick kiss and then stood up. 'I'm sorry but I have to do this. I, Gage Ace Lancaster, reject you, Sage Willow Morgan, as my mate and future luna' As soon as he said that I felt pain shoot up my body, but being the daughter of a beta I wouldn't let him see the pain of his rejection. Without any words I just nodded and walked up to my room. Once I got there I had to mind link Jasmine to come to my room. She's the alphas daughter, other than Jace she's my best friend. 'I need you please come to my room.' I like the pain both me and onyx felt seep in. 'What happened? Are you ok? I'll be there asap.' as soon as she said that my room door burst open and she was at my side in an instant. Her hug broke the dam as I cried like I've never cried before. I explained everything that happened from the closet to just being rejected. 'He's lucky I wasn't there I would've killed him.' she seethed. 'He doesn't know what he lost you're definitely a prize so f**k him.' She knew what to say to make me feel better. That's why she is my best friend after all. We grew up together, she was like my sister, her being a couple months younger also helped. I loved her the way that I loved Jace, onyx saw her as a sibling. Jasmine ended up spending the night with me. She went out and brought all the snacks that she could get her hands on. It ranged from gummy worms to different kinds of chips, she even brought my favorite ice cream. I couldn't have asked for a better night to a bad morning.
