Holy Spell

Weeks passed, and I learned basic magic spells and sword moves. Every day, Sora-san and I practiced a lot. The first spell that I learned was the water ball. Sora-san advised me to study holy spells because this will help me to beat low-level demons. I woke up early in the morning for a new practice. When I walked out of my room, I ate the food in the kitchen and took a bath. This was another day to learn and fight.

I put my sword in its scabbard and went out on the house. Sora-san is not here to pick me up, though I know the way to the Training Centre. While I was walking, I heard a commotion nearby. It's not my habit to butt on someone else's problem but since I can do so, why not? I saw a man holding a girl on her neck.

Maybe she was just a middle-schooler while the man is buff and muscular. I'm sure that they already called the kingdom guards but I don't know what could this man do to the girl.

"Hey! What are you doing to her?" I asked. His gaze was turned to me and let go of the girl.

"Why? You'll do anything to me, kid?" What I hate the most is the people who call me a kid. I'm not a kid anymore?! I stared at him blankly.

He rushed in my direction while his fist is ready to hit my face. Before his hand lands the blow, I bent to evade it and unsheathe my sword. I used the back of the blade because I might kill him if I'll use the blade itself. I jumped sidewards to avoid his upcoming attacks. Before he could attack me, I chanted a fire spell and castes it on his fit. He lost his balance and kneeled on the floor. Before he could stand up, I pointed my blade on his neck. Later on, the palace guards arrived.

"Thank you for holding up until we arrive," the guard said.

"It's nothing," I answered. They went away while the man was cuffed and carried to the prison. I was about to walk when the girl stopped me.

"Wait!" I looked at her.

"Yes?" "T-Thank you for saving me!" She said and bowed her head. Her looks don't suit her facial features. She looks like she came from a noble family. Her skin was white and it looks soft. What's more attractive in her eyes, those jade eyes were staring at me. I can't help but feel uneasy. I just nodded as a response and headed straight to the training center. When I arrived, Sora-san is practicing using her umbrella. In the past weeks, I learned her umbrella can be both sword and a shield. It can also act as a cannon by concentrating your manna on the tip of it. By using it as a cannon, Sora-san can perform perimeter support during battles.

"Sora-san!" I called her. She turned to me and smiled.

"I'm glad you made it, shall we start?" Sora-san thought me a new spell now.

By fusing holy magic with a water ball, it can inflict bigger damage on demons. First, I created a small ball of light. I slowly put it inside the water ball, as I released the holy spell, the light scattered on the water ball. It now looks like glowing water.

"Do you wanna try it?" Sora-san asked.

"Of course!" It's already dark when we went out. We both used wind spells that enables us to fly. I took some time on learning this, though I can only hold this spell for a few minutes. When we arrived on the grass field, Sora-san get a drop of blood and scatter it in the area. It is one of the ways to attract demons, especially the low-level ones. Minutes later, a demon with a huge body came. It's not terrifying at all, judging on the aura it emits, this demon is just newly born. It rushes towards our direction with its sharp fangs and dripping saliva. I created a water ball and mixed it with a holy spell. I jumped backward as I released the ball in the demon's direction. It shrieks a painful roar as it endures the pain I inflicted. The water ball was like poison to them. The damaged part was melted like hot water was poured into it. To finish this demon, I charged on its position and cut off its head. In the last few weeks, I learned not to pity demons. I'm sure that if they still had their human minds, they would likely get killed than hurt others. I looked at its body as it slowly fades away in the thin air.

"Now, Yushiro you know how holy spell damages the demons," Sora-san said. I nodded as a response.

"But you have to be careful on using it, holy spells don't consume your manna. It consumes your life force, that's why the more you use it, the weaker you could get. On us mages, holy spells were mostly advised to use during an emergency," she explained.

"But I didn't feel anything while using holy spells," I said.

"Then let's try this," Sora-san called two demons. I fought them using the same techniques, but even though I used too many holy spells I still am not feel anything strange.

"It's unusual to see a beginner spell caster who doesn't get exhausted in using multiple holy spells. I took years just to get used to using holy spells five times in a row," she's still thinking of what's happening. Is it that strange? While we are practicing, the blue light comes near on Sora-san. It looks like a small ball. When she tapped it, a hologram-like appeared.

"Sora-san, you and your trainee are being called by the king. We need your immediate cooperation. Thank you!" The hologram said and disappeared.

"Why does the king wants to see me?"
