THE BILLIONAIRE DAUGHTER

CHAPTER 10
Arianna woke up the next morning, as the sun rays were in her bedroom. She could hear the chirping of birds as it sang their melodious tone, as they flew from tree to tree. She sat upright, on the bed, and glanced at her alarm clock. It was 7:35am.
Great, just great. She muttered underneath her breath, as she rushed out of bed, and entered the bathroom, searching for where she dropped her toothbrush, the night before. This was bad, very, very bad. After all she had planned, she couldn’t believe that she woke up too f*****g late. 7: 35 am was fine, there was nothing late about it, to others, but for her, that was the only time, she could catch her mother alive and even more better…not with her dad. Her dad was already in her room from 7am-11am, before they would come down for breakfast. Father always shouted to her, during that time, or talked, if you could ignore his high angry voice, plus the breaking of very important glass figurines. Damn it, she cursed, once more, as she hurried took her bath. Walking out of the bathroom, with dripping wet hair, she went to the wardrobe, where she pulled out a dress. Then, another, and another, and another.
Curse you, Aurora! Now I can’t make up my mind. Arianna cursed in her head, as she tried to pick up one, t was the same dress, same, color, same design, yet Aurora argued that they were different and picked them up, for her. It was a gift for her birthday, of course, Aurora paid it with her own money, so it is not really a gift, then, is it? She sighed deeply as she dropped them all on her bed. Okay I can’t afford to do this. Arianna said as she closed her eyes and picked one.
She looked at it, and said, I am going with this. She hurriedly put it on, as she plugged her dryer into the socket, and dried her hair, before tying it with a ribbon. Wearing her sneakers, she looked at the mirror and shrugged.
Well, it seems…not too shabby. She ran out of the room, and headed down to the hallways. She saw the maids, already up and doing, dusting the same places, they already dusted yesterday. It was no use, she was the only child, and she was disowned, she was pretty sure that if the maids didn’t dust for a day, nobody would found out.
She shrugged as the maids bowed their heads in greeting and said.
“Good morning, miss Arianna. I hope you had a wonderful night.” One of the maids said.
“Yes, I did, can anyone please tell me how to get to my mum’s room? I am afraid that my memory is a bit rusty.” Arianna said chuckling nervously.
Yes, we can, one of the maids will personally take you there. The maid replied, she seemed to be the head, as she directed one of the maids who was cleaning the windows to drop her cleaning supplies and take the mistress to the madam’s room. The head said as the maid nodded her head.
“Oh, wait, shoot. I totally forgot. Please give me one minute.” Arianna said as she turned and dashed back to her room. She forgot about the presents, the chocolates, and flowers.
“Damn it, so not cool.” She said as she searched for it. Where did I keep it anyways? She mused as she bent down and looked under the bed.
She found it, well the chocolates and flowers. She brought it out as she muttered.
“Old habits never die.” She walked back to the hallways where she saw the maid, that they had instructed to take her to her mother’s room still waiting patiently. She hastened her steps, as she reached her.
“Sorry about wasting your time, I totally forgot about the….” Arianna started as she was caught off by the maid.
“No, need to apologize, miss Arianna, I am perfectly happy waiting here for you, this is after all my job.” The maid replied as Arianna raised her eyebrow at her.
“Okay, if you say so. What is your name? I don’t think I heard the head…I think say it.” Arianna said walking beside her.
“Yes, she is the head, no she didn’t say it, and my name is Pearl.” Pearl replied as they climbed down the stairs.
“Pearl? I like it, my name is Arianna.” Arianna said bringing her hand out for a handshake.
“We all know your name, every one of us. Your name had been drilled in our ears, weeks before you came back and I am sorry but I am not permitted to shake hands with you.” Pearl said shaking her head politely.
“Dang it, I keep forgetting. Why aren’t you permitted to shake hands with me? My hands are clean, aren’t they? She asked peering in her palms.
“No, not that. We are warned, never to share the same thing, with the owners of the house, eat or talk, with them, we are maids, and our only job here is to work. Pearl said slowly as she stopped.
Arianna stopped too, and scoffed.
“Who the hell, made up that rule? He must have sea weeds and octopus’s tentacles for brains. Where I come from, everyone is treated as an equal. Arianna added as Pearl suppressed her laughter.
“I believe the person who made up that rule is no other person than your father. Pearl replied as she smiled. She pointed at the gigantic door situated at the end of the hallway and said.
“That is the madam’s room, I am afraid I cannot go any further, for I wasn’t summoned. It was nice seeing you, miss Ariana. Pearl replied as she bowed her head and left, leaving Arianna alone.
Arianna nodded her head, as she made her way to the door. The door was slightly opened and she heard something which made her stop dead in her tracks.
