Chapter eight

Clarlyn

Walking into the forest it was oddly quiet. The only thing I could hear was Paden running up behind me.

"Do you hear that?" I asked through the mind link.

"I dont hear anything," Paden said as he side glanced me.

"Exactly, where is the other wolves that should have been with the wolf that attracted me?" I asked him.

"Maybe he was a lone wolf?"

"Lone wolves don't attack like that. It would have been Sky not me." I stated, Paden started growling thinking about his mate being hurt. "Paden, she is fine! It was me it wanted." I tried to calm him down. I knew he wanted to go back to see his mate. Then the echo of a snap of a branch came from the side of us.

"Did you hear that?" He asked.

"shhhhh," I turned to the direction of the noise. "Cover my back!" I ordered. He turned to face the other way.

"Clara, Clara, Clara... Its been a while since you have came back here." A voice of a man boomed from between the trees.

"Clara, we are surrounded." Paden told me with no spark of anxiety in his voice. I hissed at the naked mutt that stood tall infront of me. "I heard your warning when you killed one of my best fighters." I growled in response. Why do I keep having run ins with these mutts? "Are you just going to growl at me or are you going to shift so we can have a conversation?" The man wolf asked as he stepped closer to me. I hissed in warning as his eyes flashed a fiery orange at me. "Or are you too weak still?" I knew he was just trying to piss me off enough for me to shift back to human. I guess word got around that I was becoming weaker. Good. I dont think he knew I could sense that he was weaker than me.

"Just shift I got your back." Paden assured me.

"Okay," I nodded my head. shifting into my human form.

"So beautiful the stories don't give you justice," he smiled as his eyes lingered on my body.

"Don't try to flatter me," I hissed back at him. Trying to ignore the way he looked at me. "Are you sure the one I just killed was one of your best warriors, because if so your pack wont last long. He was weak!" I bared my sharp teeth at him. A sadistic smile flashed across his face. His eyes flashed of orange fury agian before he turned back and walked off. The wolves that's surrounded us started to pounce.

"You sure pissed him off! Here we go!" Paden yelled all giddy for the fight. Before I could shift back to my black tiger a wolf came flying at me. I threw it over my head over to Paden. I could hear him tearing the mutt's throat out with his teeth. We danced around them not taking any chances and killing them as quickly as possible. One of them came up behind me digging its sharp teeth into my leg. I punched it in the face trying to make it let go. Howling for Paden to get closer to me so it allowed my body to heal quicker. His power ran through my body making me stronger. "Only four more left!" Paden yelled showing all his teeth. His fur was all matted up with blood and dirt. Suddenly a wolf jumped up slashing his claws into my face. My Blood dripped into my eyes. I growled flashing my eyes at it.

"Kill the your two quickly!" I ordered at him, as a stocked my prey. I grabbed the wolf's head that had scratched me. Twisting it I could hear the harsh snap of its neck breaking. The other wolf was about to grab my leg; but I quickly twisted my body shoving my leg down smashing my heel into the wolves face. Still holding the limp wolf I flung it smashing the body into its buddy. I ripped its head off coursing it to really die.

"Done," I grabbed the wolf that was still alive by the throat.

"Good," I pulled it out from underneath the dead body. Then I smashed the wolf back into the ground. A small whimper left its lips. "Shift!" I commanded. My aura surrounded us, causing Paden to s**t automatically. Even though the command was ment for the wolf not him. The wolf fought against it, but finely lost the fight. A small muscular girl was replaced. Blood and dirt was covering her body it was matted into her bleach blood hair. That it didnt look so blond anymore. Her eye's brightly shone Oarnge in fear. "Now, you are going to answer all my questions!" I hissed angrily.

"f**k you!" she screamed spitting me in the face. I wiped the spit off of me.

"No! f**k you!" I growled slamming her head back into the ground. I placed a sadistic smile on my face. "This is how we are going to play, little wolf. You will tell me everything and I will let you live to run to your little pack. If not I will make it a slow painful death."

"Clara," Paden's voice sounded like a warning. He was giving me a side eye; I completely ignored it.

"So how are we going to do this?" I asked. She looked away from me and stayed silent.

I dug my hand underneath her rib cage. Feeling for her heart. Once I did I grabbed it. "Staying quiet was not an option!" I said as I squeezed it a little.

"Ow, ow, ow!" she screeched, "Fine! I will just stop!" She screamed. That was easy. She must have been chosen to die. Sad. I could see that she was a sweet girl just wrong place wrong time.

"Now, why did your pack come after me?"

"Alpha said it was for the greater good," she whimpered. I still had my hand in her chest.

"For what greater good?" I demanded.

"I don't know exactly! All he said was that you were weak enough to kill." She stuttered, "He said the person he is working for made sure of it." I looked at Paden who's blues eyes glowed a light blue. A sharp growl left his lips.

"Why me?" I asked narrowing my eyes at her.

"Because you're powerful."

"There are more powerful Alphas than me." I stated.

"Yes but it's not just you per-say; it's what you can create." My mind ran back to the past where I was holding my beautiful daughter. I always asked myself why her? Now I know why.

"Who is your Alpha working for?" I snarled my blood heating up with anger.

"I dont know," I squeezed her heart. Anger running through me like a poison. My gift allowed me to see she was telling the truth but I needed to keep the facade of my gift not working. It was a waste of my time to interrogate her. I guess this pack is right got to sacafise something for the greater good.

"Fine," I let her so slipping my hand out of her chest. "Go back, and warn them agian I will kill your entire pack if they get in my way." She gave me a quick nod a d booked it. I could feel eyes on us from the direction she was running to. I held my head up high and with a knowing smirk. lifting up my hand giving who ever was watching my middle finger.

Then Paden and I shifted back to our tiger form; running side by side heading towards the Veron pack.
