31 Evasion They walked for a time, slowly at first. But after a few steps, Julian regained his equilibrium and he was able to make a better pace. They soon lost sight of the fallen thug and his stunned companion, but not before the latter managed to regain his feet. Raedrick looked back and saw him, a shadow against the lighter shadow of the snow-covered ground, stumble over to where the other man lay. He checked on his companion then stood, looking at Raedrick and Julian. For a moment, Raedrick thought sure he would charge after them. But instead, skin-and-bones turned and hurried away, back toward the cave and their camp. “He’ll be back with his friends,” Julian said. He too had stopped to look back.
