Chapter 9
Charley crouched over the trapdoor in the ground and shouted, “You have to come up and see this.” He turned back around and took a moment to take in the scenery. The trapdoor had opened on a large hill that that looked out over an expansive forest for as far as he could see. Leaves of many shades of green filled his field of vision. The air, warm and humid, hung heavy in the air. Wispy clouds floated over another hill about a mile away. He stuck his head into the trapdoor and called, “It is wonderful!”
He saw Jeremiah down below but could not make out what he said. Veronika stood beside Jeremiah and he said, “It’s like …”
