Chapter 10 Napoleon slouched on his horse and stared down at the battle scene. He had won another victory but each time the costs were dearer for his grand army. He turned away from the smoke and ruins before him and a fresh bit of hope coursed through his body. He clenched his right hand tightly around the reins and took a deep breath. “Your Excellency, come have some rest.” His aid took his horse and led him back to the main encampment. “Leave me for a moment. I want to continue to look out on our victory.” The aid nodded and then left him and Napoleon pulled himself up and fought against fatigue. They had fought hard today.
