"Welcome to Harriet Tubman High. I'm your principal, Ms. Jones and I want you guys to know that this year will be a good year for you guys, especially the seniors am I right?"
The seniors whooped and hollered as Rima sat down, doodling. She just transferred to this high school since her mother got a better paying job across the country. She said goodbye to sunny California and moved to the most talked about city, New York City.
'I don't want to hold you guys up so enjoy your senior year and get that college stuff done. We're dismissed." People began to get up and start heading to their first class. Rima was given the tour during Open House.
She began walking the long, upbeat halls to English. When she reached to grab the doorknob, a larger hand went to grab it first.
"I got it." she heard a deep voice say above her. She turned around and was speechless. This man was a God. But what was he doing talking to her?
"Thanks." she walked in the class and headed towards the teacher.
"Hi, my name is Rima Jackson and I'm new here."
"Welcome, my name is Mr. Simon, have a seat anywhere." she looked around and noticed it was almost full. She found a seat in the back by the window. She headed to that seat and sat down. The late bell rang and Mr. Simon stood up.
"Good morning, class. I'm Mr. Simon. Many of you recognize me from last year and some of you don't. I'm an easy going teachers. I give you what you give me. I simply ask for your undivided attention for these 45 minutes I have with you. Any questions?" nobody spoke so he began to teach.
As class was in session, Rima felt something tapping her sides. She looked up and it was the guy from earlier. He gave her a small nod and she returned a small nod. What seemed like forever, the bell rang and class was over. As Rima began packing her things to get ready to go to her next class, the boy stopped her.
"So...." he said, dragging on his words.
"So?" she returned, seeing what this boy wanted from her.
"The seniors get to leave the school for lunch. There's this diner that just opened up the street from here. What would you say if I asked you to accompany me?" he grabbed her schedule and started walking her to her next class, Art. She knew she was going to enjoy this class since she dreams to become an artist.
"I don't know. I don't really know you like me. You could be a serial killer for all I know." he chuckled softly, showing his perfect teeth. Why is he so perfect?
"That's the reason I'm asking you. We can go and get to know each other. I mean what's the worst that can happen? I insist." after thinking about it, Rima agreed with what said. What can really happen?
"What time is lunch?"
"11:45-12:45."
"Ok."
"Great. Just meet me outside and I'll drive us there." She walked into Art with a rather cheesy smile. She just got a date with one of the most handsomest guys she's ever seen. Let's just see how this goes.
