Ceelin
Phil carefully placed me on my bed. He watched over me in the hospital overnight until I was discharged and taken home.
"I requested your leave from school so you don't have to go to school tomorrow. Just rest at home and recover," Phil said. He lay me down on the bed and patted my shoulder.
"I can still go to school. My graduation is in two months. I can't be absent especially since my final defense is coming soon." I was worried it might affect my grades if I didn't attend my subjects. I'm aiming for Latin honors anyway.
"Don't worry about it. I assure you that your grades won't be affected," he assured me. He stroked my hair like a child and gave me a gentle smile. "Be a good girl. Just stay in bed and rest, okay?"
"O-Okay." I suddenly stammered. I'm not used to seeing him smiling at me.
"Wait for me. I will cook food for you." He stood up and left my room.
"He would cook me food? Is he sick?" I couldn't help but ask myself after he left. He has his own chef at home and he's not just an ordinary chef. He's the winner of an international cooking competition. His salary is high, so he couldn't refuse when Phil offered him a job as his personal chef. So why would Phil cook food for me? Or maybe he meant that he would let his chef cook for our food.
My cell phone suddenly rang. It was Yves calling me. I quickly picked it up.
"Hello, Ceelin. How are you? Are you home yet?" my friend asked immediately after I pressed the answer button.
"Yes. We just arrived."
"I'm envious of you, Ceelin. You found a husband who can protect you and give you justice when you're wronged," she commented in a slightly envious tone. "If you could only see how much he cared about you yesterday when he found out you needed help. You would definitely fall in love with him. And I'm guessing he's in love with you too."
I was silent for a moment. Will I fall in love with Phil again? I firmly shake my head. That won't happen. I don't want the tragedy that befell me in my last life to happen again. And Phil won't fall in love with me, either. It's only normal for him to worry if something bad happens to me because I'm his wife. Even though we're only married on paper I was still his legal wife.
"Can you please stop putting any bad ideas in my head? He has no feelings for me. It's impossible for him to like me."
"Believe me, Ceelin. Your husband really likes you. If he doesn't love you why did he pick you up from school and worry about you so much?" my friend insisted.
I couldn't answer Yves' question because Phil suddenly entered my room. I quickly said goodbye to her and turned off my cell phone.
"Here. Try this porridge I cooked for you," Phil said. One of my eyebrows raised as I heard the hint of pride in his tone.
"Porridge? You're just going to feed me porridge?" I was a little disappointed. I thought he was going to bring me something special. Something delicious. I was hungry but all he was going to feed me was porridge.
Phil placed the bowl of steaming porridge down on the small table before he spoke. "Don't look down on my porridge. This is not ordinary porridge. This is nutritious and delicious."
Phil took a spoonful of porridge and blew on it before trying to feed it to my mouth, but I dodged.
"I can eat by myself." I wasn't used to him feeding me so I couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed.
"Don't be stubborn. Open your mouth and eat," he said in an authoritative voice.
I had no choice but to follow him. Based on his tone, he won't allow a "no" for an answer.
"Did you really cook this?" In fairness, the porridge was delicious and it wasn't just plain porridge. I chewed on the small bits of chicken meat and vegetables that were cut into small pieces.
"Delicious?" Phil asked with a smile.
I nodded weakly. "Umm," I answered shortly.
"Although I cooked this porridge the ingredients and cooking procedure came from my chef cook," Phil's voice answered a little embarrassed.
I stared at his face because I had only seen him embarrassed now. His behavior now was far from his behavior in my past life. He knew now how to smile and be embarrassed, whereas before he smiled more at the dog than at me. And he wouldn't feel embarrassed. Could it be that because I was gradually changing the course of events in my past life that's why Phil's behavior suddenly changed? Is that even possible?
"Ahm, thank you for saving me. If you hadn't come, something might have happened to me," I sincerely thanked him.
Phil's face suddenly became serious. He put the spoon down on the bowl and cupped my face. "Promise me, Ceelin. When you need help, I should be the first person you would ask for help. And if someone bullies you, you would tell me right away. I will make sure to pay them heavily."
I felt awkward again so I grabbed his hands and moved them away from my face. "Don't worry. Next time, I'll call you to ask for help instead of others." Actually, he was the one I wanted to call yesterday but I was too embarrassed to call him because I might just disturb his work. So I called my friend instead.
I WAS balancing the heat of the water in the bathtub when I felt the door to my room slam open. I immediately turned off the faucet before I stepped out of the bathroom and saw who had entered my room. I clenched my fists tightly when I saw Phil's younger sister enter my room.
"Aren't you the woman who tried to seduce my brother on his birthday? What are you doing at his house?" Paula asked me pointedly.
"Me? I seduced your brother on his birthday? Do you have brain damage that's why you don't remember what happened?" In my last life, I respected her and her mother. I followed everything they told me without complaint because they were Phil's family. But now, even if she were Phil's younger sister, I will not let her bully me again.
"How dare you talk to me like that! I will tell my brother what you said about me," she threatened me.
"Go on. Get your phone and call him," I challenged her.
"Shameless, woman! Get out of my brother's house right now!" she angrily shoved me away.
"Why would I leave? For your information, I'm already married to your brother. I am his law-wedded wife." I smiled at him teasingly. At least in this new life I can get back at her for what she did to me before even in a simple way.
"Your face is so thick, Ceelin! I can't believe my brother would marry a woman like you who sells her body just to study. You're such a dirty woman!" she hissed at me with a full of insults.
My mind suddenly went dark so I approached her and pulled her hair. I dragged her into the bathroom. I ignored her scream and the bad words she threw at me.
"Your mouth stinks too much. You need to clean it up before it gets worse," I told her firmly before I dunked her entire head in the bathtub full of water.
"How dare you do this to me, Ceelin! I will tell my brother to divorce you! And no matter what you do, I will not accept you as my sister-in-law!" Paula shouted angrily as I lifted her head out of the water.
"Who cares about your approval, b***h!" I dunked Paula's head in the bathtub again. I dunked her three times. I'm happy that she looked like a drowning dog while panting heavily and catching his breath.
