Derek leaned back inside the elevator as he watched the numbers change. Derek was dressed in a long-sleeved shirt with a high collar. His jeans were pulled up and buckled up tight. Derek had also shaved carefully so not even a hint of stubble was left upon his face and was sure to look the part of ‘upstanding citizen’. Derek didn't normally care what people thought of him, but he had a good thing going with a woman who lived in this building and didn't want to give her neighbors the wrong impression.
He knew the woman as Jennifer Lawrence, though that was not her real name. Jennifer (never ‘Jenn’) was a journalist for an online news site, though he wasn't sure of which. He did know she was married, which in all honesty was half of what attracted him to her
