Dreams versus reality. An alternate world of creation. A somewhat fabricated version of my subconscious, driven to the point of questionable insanity. ‘Cara Mia please… come with me, you trust me don’t you?’ James questioned lightly caressing my face feeling powerful tingles shooting through my cheek. ‘I do trust you! You know I do… It’s just if we get caught, I’m afraid I’ll never see you again… you know my father doesn’t care for the mate bond. I can’t loose you like I did my mother…’ I pleaded with tears brimming my eyes. His expression soften seeing my tears and warmly smiles ‘Okay Cara Mia, leave everything to me, promise me you will have some things ready for when we do. All I want to is too be the man you deserve and take you far away from this pack. I’ll give you the life you want.’ James declared pulling me to his lips passionately kissing each other like it was our last. ‘I will. I promise to be your Luna, your Queen. You’re everything to me James, I want to spend my life with you, carry your pups, love you till my last breath, my life is not worth living without you!’ I declared feeling the tears fall down. ————————————————- “Harley? Babe you okay? You look like you’re sleep walking again.” Lex asked waving his hand in front of my face. I was pulled from yet another daydream. I know that it’s common to do when your mind wonders but that usually happens when your in school, bored out of your mind! For me their becoming more frequent I think it’s stress but I can’t help feel a sense of familiarity. It’s the same couple, James and a woman I don’t know her name other than ‘Cara Mia’. I think I must be reading too much before bed. My new husband Alexius or Lex for short. Grabbed my hand pulling me into his arms just holding me. He always knew what to do in any given situation. “Harley baby, when we’re home we’ll go to the doctors about these absences, your worrying me slightly with this.” Lex stated running his fingers calmly through my hair letting all the tension go. “Lex it’s the same people again, I just don’t understand it. But I can’t help feeling a sense of familiar, I can’t describe it really… like a vision or a memory from a past life of something.” I said taking in deeply his earthly scent, I never understood why, but ever since we were kids, growing up he’s always been my home for me. Lex just stood there holding me, surrounded by huge tall trees the ground was damp from the density of the forest, it’s like stepping into a magical fairytale. Moss covered rocks, stunning waterfalls crashing below, I couldn’t wait to explore more however my predicament keeps interfering this is the fourth time today. “What happened in this one?” Lex asked. “Well…nothing really, that’s the thing. It’s the same guy called James and a woman he calls Cara Mia; I think they trying to leave but she’s afraid of what her father would do… come to think about it, she said something weird like mate and carry your pups? I don’t know anyone who talks or says anything like that!” I exclaimed. “Well yeah, neither do I. Actually ‘Cara Mia’ is Italian for my dear or love, depends on what you want to say I think.” Lex suggested. “Hmmm, I suppose. Come on let’s carry on, this place is so beautiful I wanna see as much as possible till we have to turn back!” I said excitedly. We walked hand in hand, pointing things out to each other, like a bird's nest in the tree with three baby hatchlings and their mother feeding them, or like the family of hedgehogs taking a stroll across the damp ground; it's truly a magical experience being so close to nature and in some way finding peace in a chaotic world. Walking along the forest trail and decided to head back before it got too dark; A low murderous heart stopping growl froze us in our tracks. Lex instinctively held my hand tight pulling me slowly behind him protecting while miming me to not make any noise, he stares straight ahead. I couldn't see anything, until it was too late. A galloping thunder shook the ground, growling ferociously as it's gaining momentum. A huge brown grizzly bear appeared out of nowhere bearing its sharp long canines to us. My heart stopped. My body froze from shear terror. This is where I'm going to die. Lex and I are going to die. “Harley! No sudden movements!” Lex exclaimed sharply. Trying to get a handle on the situation. Out of nowhere Lex pushes me harshly away from the bear's path, tumbling down the steep hill without a hope in chance of grabbing hold of anything stopping my fall. The painful jabs here and there, the whipping of branches hitting my face. In the distance I hear more growling and screams… Lex’s screams of pain! Finally crashing to a halt, my head splitting with pain; reaching my hand up to the pain, I’m feeling a warm sticky slippery liquid covering over me, my body internally screams out in pain as dizziness embraces me into a darkness, the last thing I thought I saw was paws? All I remember thinking is “Please just help Lex…” —————————————————— While wondering through the thick dense forest currently on a routine patrol, a strange unsettling feeling of danger appeared in my gut, coupled with the scent honeysuckles; the feeling and scent stirred my wolf’s senses quickly turning to panicking. “Run! She’s in danger!” “Who’s in danger Theo?” “Just RUN dammit!” Without a second thought, I ran towards the danger, the strange feeling in my chest tightening and I’m becoming suddenly scared, that pull is forcing me to run faster dodging the trees, branches and old tree stumps along the way.. An ear splitting scream pierces my ears letting out a dangerous loud growl. “Alpha! What is it?!” “Don’t worry Alpha, we’re right behind you!” Push faster! Harder! Don’t Stop! Don’t stop! Skidding to a halt no wonder my wolf acted out, that’s her! She’s my mate! Who’s that with his hands on my angel?! “Harley, no sudden movements!” The guy hastily exclaimed pushing her behind him. That was it. I saw it happen before they did, Theo forced his way to the front of my mind shifting straight towards the beast. Hoping to get to it before it attacked them. His sudden urge and need to protect his mate from harm overwhelmed anything else. The guy pushed my mate named Harley down the hill, my wolf wanted to go to her but I saw the bear clamp it’s jaws down on the guy who protected her as he let out an ear splitting scream. It’s me and my beta, against this beast. “Jake! Go for its legs I’ll go for it’s neck!” I commanded. We both sprang into action while I took hold of its neck, the sheer size of this beast was nothing I’ve come across before, it let go of the human as I fiercely clamped my jaw down on its neck. It kinda went into a submission sensing my dominance. It kicked Jake to the side and flung me off it’s neck, attempting to limp away. I bared my own canines, standing in front, growling at the beast, Theo wasn’t going to let it get near these humans again. The hyperventilating guy, watched on in awe or terror at the sight before him clutching his neck. I quickly shifted back, not caring about my stark nakedness as I rushed over to him assessing his injuries. It’s bad. The bear tore through part of his neck, no way he’s going live through that. “Please help…Harley!” He asked spluttering blood through his mouth. “We will, you have my word. No harm will come to Harley.” “I did what she wanted. Your moon goddess entrusted me with her safety, till you came.” “What? But you’re a human, how do you know of our world?” I asked bewildered. “But she’s not… Harley is special. She needs to be protected. Please tell Harley that I love her so much and to thank her for a wonderful fulfilling loving life” he asked tears filling his eyes. “I will. What’s your name?” I asked. “It’s Lex… thank you Alpha Aron.” His eyes fluttered closed, his chest rose no more. I never knew this man, but a sudden pain tore through me knocking me back for a second. Jake my beta noticed my flinch and asked “Aron you okay?” Nodding slowly, reassuring myself the pain is gone instantly. “Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s bring him with us, he deserves a proper send off.” I said rising to my feet following the scent of honeysuckles. My head trainer Harry, met us with my mate passed out in his arms. Just seeing her like this broke my heart. “We need to get her to the med bay. She’s hit her head, blood has stopped but I think it might be wise, who is she Alpha? I’m picking up a faint smell of wolf on her but she smells like him, the human.” “Harry, I just don’t know anything right now. All I do know is that she’s my mate and my wolf sensed her. The human named Lex knew us and said before he died that the moon goddess said to protect her…” I thought to myself the is turning out to be the weirdest day. “C’mon Princess let me take you home.” I said taking great care from Harry holding her. I almost dropped her feeling the obvious prickly sparks soaring strongly through my body holding her. She really is here. My mate. My Queen. My Luna. Maybe the weirdest day, but definitely something to remember.
