CHAPTER TWO
“I will take responsibility”.
Ava looked up in shock, staring at the man who was seated beside her, wearing just a black trouser.
“You don't need to, it was a mistake which no one should know about” Ava refused immediately her senses got back.
A hurt look crossed Nathaniel's eyes but he covered it quickly with a frown.
“So you think that what we had was a mistake? You don't believe that last night was magical?” Nathaniel asked, moving closer to Ava
She shifted away and glared at him “magical!, you call that s**t magical, you f*****g slept with your cousin's fiancee and you don't even feel a little bit guilty about it?!” Ava yelled angrily, tears brewing in her eyes ``how will I face Joseph, we are getting married in 2 weeks time and then this happens, do you think I should just laugh and gossip with you about how fun it was?” She yelled.
This time tears were rolling down her cheeks
She looked like a wounded hedgehog.
Nathaniel exhaled guiltily, he moved closer to Ava and held her hands gently.
“Let's get married Ava, I promise I'm going to take care of you just the way Joseph does to you, I won't let you regret anything” he said I'm a soft voice.
Ava pulled her hands out of his harshly “I don't want to, Joseph is the only man I love” Ava said and stood up from the bed.
She walked towards the door in a bid to leave the room.
“Do you think Joseph is still going to accept you if he finds out that you had s*x with his cousin?” Nathaniel asked.
Ava paused, her hand holding onto the handle of he door tightly
“ That's not for you to worry about” Ava sneered and left the room , banging the door loudly as she left.
“f**k!” Nathaniel cursed, lying on the bed forcefully, his hand raked through his hair.
“f**k!” He cursed again, he stood up from the bed and picked up his shirt from the bed, wearing it quickly.
Once he was done,he rushed out of the room, closing the door behind him softly.

“I called your number 5 times but you didn't answer my calls, why?” Ava asked immediately she entered Joseph's room but the sight she saw shocked her to the marrows, the windows were all locked and the room light off giving the room a creepy and dark vibe.
Joseph sat on the bed despondently, a bottle of alcohol in his hands, the smell of strong alcohol wafting around the room.
“It's too early for you to drink,” Ava said, heading to the switch that was placed on the center table of the room.
She pressed the button on the switch and the lights came on.
“What the hell Joseph! Do you want to drink yourself to death?!” Ava yelled.
On the floor of the room were both opened and unopened bottles of alcoholic drinks of different brands.
Joseph raised his head slowly, Ava gasped at the state of thean before her.
She couldn't believe that he was the well groomed man who was staring at her yesterday with his eyes filled with love
Now, his face was looking haggard with unshaven and unkempt beards around his chin, his usually clear and gentle eyes red and filled with hatred.
“Where were you?” This was the first sound Joseph had made since Ava entered the room.
His voice was extremely hoarse and sounded scratchy.
“I was arranging things back at the hotel, you know that
…”
“Don't lie to me Ava, please don't” Joseph said in a pleading tone, he stood up from the bed and stalked towards Ava, grabbing her tightly and shook her “don't you dare lie to me Ava!” He screamed.
The smell of alcohol wafting out of his mouth was choking but Ava didn't even have the time to register the offensive odor.
She stood like a doll, staring in wonder and fear at the man before her.
He was unlike his previous gentle and polite self.
“You are hurting me Joseph, please unhand me” Ava said softly, trying hard not to irritate him any further.
“f*****g answer me and stop being mute!” He yelled, the veins on his face popping out.
“I'm sorry Joseph, it was a mistake…I shouldn't have” Ava cried out loudly.
The little light in Joseph's eyes dimmed and he let go of Ava slowly, with dazed eyes, he walked towards the bed and plopped down on it.
Ava rushed towards him and knelt before him,her hands grasping him tightly.
“This won't repeat itself Joseph, I promise, I did it because I was drunk and nothing else, I assure you that you are still the only one in my heart” Ava said in a pleading tone, raising Joseph head with his hands so that he would look into her eyes but he shifted his eyes away, not wanting to look at her, this broke her heart the more.
“You slept with him,you betrayed our bond Ava! I loved you! I cherished you,I trusted you then why? Tell me have I ever wronged you in any way?” He asked, Ava looked at his face, tears were rolling down his eyes.
This was the first time Ava had seen him crying bitterly ever since they started dating or gotten engaged.
“I'm sorry Joseph, I'm sorry” she cried loudly, sniveling like a baby.
“Leave my house” Joseph suddenly said In a calm tone.
Ava looked at him, her eyes wide in shock
“Should I leave? You want me to leave your house?”
“You heard me the first time right, get out of my house before I do something that I would definitely regret” Joseph gritted out, his tone spelling danger if Ava refused to heed his words.
Ava couldn't believe that she was hearing this from Joseph.
“And don't come to work anymore, just leave, don
't appear in front of me ever again in your life” He said in a final tone.
