Jane's POV:
I pulled out my phone and texted Nate; maybe he can tell me what happened; I could see from Eva's face I was going to get nothing out of her.
"What happened over there?"
"Don't know I was at training."
"Why isn't Jaxon coming after Eva?"
"I give you one guess."
"Ugh, Trisha!!"
"Yup!"
"Does he know she is heading back to Texas?"
"Can he bring himself to care? You know he's blind when Trisha's around."
"At this point, I'm starting to feel like I'm mated to them instead of Daniel."
"Congratulations on finding your mate last night; I forgot to congratulate you guys with all the craziness."
"Thanks, Nate :-D."
"I am gonna go talk to Mr. Grumpy and fix this."
"And I will be with my friend and mate and visit their pack."
I busied myself packing my bag; I don't know what is wrong with that man; why is he pushing her away? Why won't he talk to her and tell her the truth? I thought I was done cleaning up after these guys, but I guess not.
After packing a weekend bag, I see my mate, Molly, Eva, and the warriors of the Moonlight pack waiting by the SUVs.
"Eva, can we talk for a minute?" the look in her eyes says, "no," but she nodded her head.
"It's okay; we can talk later." I squeezed her arm.
"How about we get some food before we head out?"
"Nutella pancakes?" She question.
Laughing, "anything you want, love," I answered.
There's a brunch place that serves breakfast all day down the road; how about some food for the road?"
"Oh yeah!" chimed Chris excitedly. I haven't known these guys long, but I can already tell their pack-house is always filled with food.
Chuckling, we piled into the SUVs.
Eva stares out the window next to Molly. I sit next to Daniel on the passenger side and the boys and Chris in the other SUV.
I held my hand on my lap, unaware of what to say because this situation was not exactly a common one. Usually, wolves meet their mates and mate sooner than you can blink, but an alpha fighting with his luna is not common, even with everything Jax has going on. I did not expect this. Lost in thought, Daniel grabbed my hand and gave it a slight squeeze. I looked up and saw his half-smiling face. I can imagine what he is going through, he finds his mate, but his sister is hurting at the same time. When I see that Jax, I will give him a piece of my mind.
Daniel's POV:
We arrived at a building that didn't look that different from other diners. I looked at Eva in the rearview mirror and I can already see how different she is. f*****g Alpha thinks he can play with my sister, once my pack finds out this, I don't even want to think about what is gonna happen. She looks up and gives me a forced smile.
She has been looking forward to finding her mate for so long and for him to not accept the bond. UGH!! s**t is just pissing me off.
I walked around the car I opened Jane's door, and I saw Molly already had her door opened, I helped them all out of the car.
Chris came up, "we have the left corner of the place, it has the largest table."
"Thanks, Chris," said Molly and Jane almost together.
He threw his arm around Eva and gave her should a hug.
We all grew up together, Chris is like a brother to her, and I was glad to have him here right now.
We walked into the diner, and it was not a diner at all. It was set up with some regular tables in the middle, but mostly it was such park benches serving as tables. The walls had art, I'm guessing from local artists as I didn't recognize any of it. The glass windows had old coffee machines, espresso makers on display. We walked towards one side of the place where 2 park benches were pushed together, a few feet in front of a wall that is painted black and had the words "old soul" written on it in wooden letters, each letter a different font. On the opposite side, I see a large leather sofa and a couple of leather chairs, and I can see Jane and Eva drinking coffee and sitting there. This place is nice, I know why they chose it.
We order our food, pancakes, French toast, Mac and cheese, and iced coffees to go around. We ordered so much food the waiter's eyes were bulging out of his head. As for werewolves and as warriors, these guys can eat. This was a good distraction. Chris and the guys are cracking jokes. The ladies are laughing, and Eva even chuckled a time or two. This was what we all needed.
I see Jane looking at her phone, worry flashed crossed her face, and she tried to hide it. I've only known her for 24 hours, but I can already tell something made her mood change.
"What is it?" I whispered in her ear.
"Jax is asking where we are."
"Because"
"He wants to talk to Eva."
I looked around the table at my sister and my wolf Max growled in my head.
"Tell him we left already."
I put three one hundred dollars on the table and stood up.
"Time to go, or we will not make our flight time," I announced
Everyone scrambles, sipping the drinks and taking last bites of food, as I looked at my mate, who was texting away like a madwoman. I ushered everyone out of the restaurant and into the SUVs and drove as fast as possible without raising suspicion.
I mindlinked Chris, that f*cker is coming here; as soon as we arrive, we get everything on the plane and off the grown as fast as possible.
"Yes, gamma," he replied.
I didn't realize I was using my gamma voice; I'll make it pop to him later.
Once we parked the cars, the guys busied themselves with the bags, and Chris talked to the flight crew.
We were all seated, and the pilot was announcing that we would be taking off shortly when Max became on edge.
They're here, he warned.
The plane was already on the runway,
Wheels up, NOW! I growled through the mindlink. I'm going to have a lot to make up for after using my gamma voice on everyone today. That's not how we run our pack, and I don't want my pack members to think I am unhappy with them, but when it comes to my sister, I have to protect her.
"Yes, gamma," the pilot replied.
Within a few minutes, we were just taking off, the ladies we comfortably in their chairs talking. I looked out of the window to see an SUV pull up to the tarmac. I kept quiet and smirked—time to go home.
Jaxon's POV
I walked Trisha into the packhouse and upstairs.
"Baby, I don't even know what happened or why that slut would attack me." She whined. She has one more time to disrespect my mate, and then I'm taking her h*ad off. Alistair grumbled.
"Get dressed and meet me in my office," I said to her calmly.
Nate, Taylor, meet me in my office. I mind linked
Already here. Replied Nate
No sh*t Taylor replied. From his voice, I know I'm going to hate this conversation.
I rounded the corner to see a nervous Nate looking at his phone and a pissed-off Taylor leaning on the door.
"Is there a reason you are in the hallway?" I questioned
"Yeah, to keep me from breaking s**t," Taylor said
"What he said." Chimed Nate.
Taylor opens the door and walks towards the window, no doubt to keep himself calm, and Nate throws himself on the couch.
"Talk," Taylor says plainly.
"You forget I am your alpha," I replied, getting angry, I didn't like that tone, and neither did Alistair.
"Alpha or not, I am loyal to our luna, and as far as I can tell, you just let her run off pack lands." He said, with his arm crossed over this chest.
"He got you there!" Nate added
"Shut the f*ck up, Nate!"
"I'm just saying you are really f*cking this up!"
"I can't do this to her, you see her, she so damn tiny, I can't handle anything happening to her."
"Nothing will happen to her!" Taylor screamed
"Jax, we have known you since we were kids; we know you want your mate. So why didn't you accept the bond."
"I sat on my desk, cannot do to my mate what my father did to his! I JUST CAN'T"
"We would never let that happen," said Taylor
"And there's a chance it won't even happen with her!"
"It's supposed to skip a generation, right? So maybe it skipped you."
"How often have you guys had to bring me back from the edge? Imagine if I hurt my mate, I couldn't live with that," I said, looking down.
"Well, sitting here and whining is not gonna make her walk back into this packhouse." an annoyed Taylor stated.
"Yes! We have to win the luna back."
"We? I didn't have s**t to do with this sh*tfest." Taylor defended
"Yeah, but if we just send him, we'll never have a luna," Nate replied with a grin. "I will find out where they are."
"And you will take out the trash?" Taylor asked, raising his eyebrows at me
"OUT! let me know when you find them," I said, looking at Nate.
As they walked out, I started thinking of Trisha; she's not all bad, I know most of the pack dislikes her, but she's been there for me. She's been waiting for me to make her luna, even though I never promised her the title, she just assumes I would if I never found my mate and I have thought about it.
SEND HER HOME AND GO FIND MY MATE NOW, OR I WILL SNAP HER NECK! Alistair shouted angrily.
I took a deep breath and got up off my desk and walked out towards the door to find Trisha heading in.
"Baby, where are you going?"
"We need to talk, Trish" ICK Alistair gags at the name; he can be a real pain.
"Talk to me, baby. Do you need me to help you relax?" She said, moving closer to me. I put my hands on her shoulders to stop her.
"No, I found my mate, and I want to introduce her to the pack." I look up to see her eyes wide in disbelief,
"no, you said you'd choose me as your mate."
" I never said that, Trisha."
"But, you said you loved me!" She screamed
"I do love you, but you are not my mate, and you were never going to luna; I never said I would make you luna. Plus, you have your own mate out there somewhere." I explained, keeping calm and holding Alistair back.
"All the times we were together, I know you enjoyed yourself,"
"Yeah, and I never marked you because you are not my mate or my luna; you know I have been searching for her."
They're at the airstrip! Nate's voice came crashing into my mind.
F*ck! "I have to go, but we can finish this later."
"Jax, don't leave," she cried. I felt terrible because, despite her behavior towards the pack, I genuinely cared for her, and I didn't want to hurt her. My claw elongated as Alistair pushed forward,
"Go home, Trisha! we will talk later." I rushed out of my office and met Nate and Taylor outside. I jump into Nate's SUV, and we take off towards my mate. I hope I wasn't too late.
Trisha's POV:
He rushed passed me and left me standing there. Go home? GO HOME!!! How could he forget about me like this!! So he thinks he can use me and move on to his mate. I have been patiently waiting for him to choose me and make me his chosen mate, but then that stupid sl*t had to show up.
Let it go, Trisha! I told you before he was never going to pick you! my wolf said.
Shut up!
You didn't listen, and you rejected our mate for him, and he doesn't even want you!
ENOUGH! I blocked her quickly.
She is not just going to come in here and take what is mine. As I walked out of his office, I saw an omega cleaning the floors, and I pushed her, "get out of my way!" I would take my frustrations out on her, but Jax forbids any abusive behaviors towards omegas.
Looking back at the packhouse as I head out, this is not over, I will get what is mine.
Nate's POV:
"Faster!" Jax screamed
"We are going 80, and we are almost there," I replied
Just as we are pulling up, I see the plane get off the ground, Jax jumps out of the car, and he transforms into my giant black wolf. He runs down the runway and lets out the loudest and most sorrow-filled howl I have ever heard. It's so loud that it made my wolf whine wanting to come forward to comfort his alpha. I look over to see Taylor, and I know he's also fighting with his wolf. In the distance, I hear a few more howls, some members of the pack responding to the pain of their alpha. I don't know what we are going to do, but I know that my alpha, who is not one for emotion, is heartbroken, and my pack is feeling it. They are going to mourn the loss of the luna they didn't even get to meet.
