Prologue
Greetings,
I see you’ve heard the call, you may not realize that's what happened at all, but nonetheless I assure you our meeting wasn’t happenstance. Whether you call it fate, destiny, or any other terms along those lines, you were meant to find this book, one way or another. I’m here to tell you the story of a land you may have once only hoped existed, once thought to simply be a mere fantasy. This world of magical abilities was once a place of hope and joy. A peaceful land for all to come and live their lives without worry, that is until a simple rule was broken. Friendship was created with a mortal boy, which led to the peace's demise.
Our world was known as DeJur, only those who bore the gift were allowed entry, portals were connected to your world and a plethora of others. The gateway between realms was left open, by a foolish gift bearer, allowing for a mortal to enter our world. Now you may be thinking, wasn't the gate hidden and not in the open? It was hidden in a dense forest that few dared to venture into. One of those few was a lonely boy named Ageod, he was roughly fifteen years old.
Ageod often wandered the woods outside of the village, his parents were gone, and no one really wanted him around. In the woods though he felt safe, like he could finally breathe freely. The dark wood had become his home, he knew the creatures that shared his safe place. He would often find himself talking with the birds high in the trees. He truly envied the freedom they had, to go anywhere at any time. He wished he could leave his village, and find a place filled with kindness and love, a place with friends not foe.
As he walked through the tree line he realized the sun was starting to set. He knew he needed to return soon or else he'd be in for a world of hurt, then he saw it, the gate to DeJur. A warm golden light shone before him, there stood a magnificent marble structure laced with silver, and bronze, a towering archway with beautiful carvings of winged horses on either side. He looked around wondering why he never saw this before in his other adventures outside the village; its grandeur was rather hard to miss. Curiosity tugged at him to enter through the thin pearly veil that separated the worlds. He gave in, and crossed over to our world. When he stepped through he was greeted with the sweet smell of flowers that wafted from a nearby field, hovering ever so slightly above it. He saw a magnificent winged creature. The creature looked like a beautiful young woman with long blonde hair that shimmered like gold in the sunlight, large snow white wings spread from her back. She turned toward the gate, noticing him standing there in awe of her pure beauty.
“Are you a human man?” she asked, gliding through the air towards him, staring intently. Her voice was a sweet song that danced past her rose red lips.
“Y-yes I am. I was in the woods and there was this gateway I-I had never seen before and I wandered through and came to this place. Um what exactly is this place?” he managed to stutter out the words, shock washing over him as he took in her beauty up close. Her skin, a soft ivory, which made her brilliant emerald eyes shine brightly as her blond hair corested the edges of her beaming face.
“Why this is the land of magic, but wait you don't have the gift?” she asked, confused.
“No I don’t. I’ve only seen the gift used once in my life. I had no idea there was a whole world for those who had it though.” He said.
“No mortal has gotten in before. You must be a special soul.” Her eyes lit up suddenly, as she decided to scoop him up and show him around the world of magic. She was right he was a special soul but not in the way she thought. He fulfilled a dark prophecy that loomed over the land since its creation ages ago.
As you continue on dear ones remember nothing ever is as it appears, and always keep an open mind as you take in the events that unfolded after this grave encounter.
