As soon as breakfast was over Amber headed to the obstacle course, glad she had saved plenty of energy for this very task. Sam had been right about one thing, she showed them that she would struggle with the obstacle course.
What none of them had known since she was 12, was she held back. She remembered the relentless bullying of the Alpha and Beta families when she was at the top, and had held back since they had each gained their Wolves. She smiled as word had spread quickly that the instructors had no clue what she would accomplish, and that even Alpha Dominic would be watching her evaluation.
She would be tested on how well she completed the course, and knew that parts of it were meant to be completed in Wolf form. She had run it late at night with the tricks her Uncle had taught her, and while she wouldn't likely make Master level on this, she hoped for atleast expert.
Master Hammer approached, and looked at the stands that had been assembled for observation. He would follow her closely, as he had to evaluate each obstacle. "Ready?" he asked.
"I am indeed." she said with a smile as she looked at Archer. He was the Heir to Alpha Dominic, and had been her greatest torment until she let him think his cronies were better than she was.
"You will be scored on speed, technique, and how many of the obstacles you complete. Begin at the sound of the shot." Hammer told her as he signaled the time keeper who indeed shot a training gun.
Like the bullet that should have left the gun, Amber charged into the obstacle course as fast as she could. The solo challenges was where she excelled as these were to be done in Human Form.
The gasps from the onlookers told her that she was on course to smash the record for the personal section, and smiled when she got to where she was meant to change.
There was a moan as she charged forward in her human form, and gasps each time she easily managed the obstacles that most Wolves struggled with daily. Most of them believed she had never seen this part of the course, but didn't know she would come out here at night to run the obstacles she wanted too. Because of it, she was better than any of them.
She could hear the cheers of those who supported her, and boos from the cronies who had hoped she would fail miserably. She blocked them out as she got to the hard part of the course, and used every skill in her book to complete the course.
More than once she had jumped clean over the head of the Wolves who had been stationed to assist where they thought it necessary. She had no desire for their help, even though the challenges were designed to assess teamwork.
There were 8 of them however she couldn't do this with, and it rehired tactics and skill to get the people necessary to complete the challenge.
Archer and his buddies began a fresh chant, hoping to throw her off as she quickly made them do what she wanted.
She focused so hard on what she was doing, she did not realize that not only had she beaten every Wolf record that there was, she had also shattered numerous records set by multiple Lycans before the Vampires had nearly destroyed all of them.
She came skidding to a stop after she crossed the finish line, before she finally looked at the clock. It was above the Alpha and his son, and Archer stood there with his mouth hanging open. Most of those who had watched were equally shocked as she tried to catch her breath.
She watched Alpha Dominic walk out of the stands, headed back for the Pack House.
"This should be interesting." She said to no one in particular as Archer and his group of 5 cronies made a bee line for her.
"Follow me Ms. Forrest." David Hammer said as he turned and saw Archer approaching. "Get to your studies, all of you!" he roared with the power of a Lycan. Not even Archer could overpower his command, until he became the full Alpha.
Amber walked with him into the Pack House, and wondered what this was all about. It was traditional for the results to be given to them after lunch, and she was nervous about how badly she had beaten the scores of everyone else. She became more nervous when she realized she was being taken to the Alphas office.
Hammer knocked on the door.
"Uh oh." Amber said as they both waited.
"Enter." Alpha Dominic said just before Hammer opened the door and pushed her in. He did not look up immediately, as it was clear he was reviewing the scores over time. "Tell me why you held back so much over the last 4 years. Is it not a disservice to the Pack to not train as hard as you can?" he demanded with his full Aura on display. Not even Hammer was immune to it, and although she could feel it still, she knew even at full strength it would not be able to compel her to obey anymore.
"The first question I cannot answer by order of Future Alpha Archer. The second answer is yes, it has been a disservice to the entire pack. However I had no choice but to obey." she told him as she watched Dominic and Hammers eyes widen.
"Explain." he ordered her.
She realized that now she could, despite the order of Archer. "I cannot disobey the orders of Future Alpha Archer sir. Even with your command to obey I cannot betray a future Alpha." she said keeping. straight face as Dominic pushed a button on his desk.
"Yes Alpha?" his secretary asked.
"Bring Archer to my office immediately." he ordered her before he released the button. "Amber, what exactly was my son's order?" he asked with a sickeningly sweet voice.
"That I was not to show more skill than him or any of his friends that he intended to make his Beta, Gamma and Delta's. He also ordered me not to tell another soul that if at any time I did so, they would bully, ridicule and beat me until I submitted. Since than I have trained in secret." she said to him as she could easily relay his orders.
"How many times did this occur?" Dominic asked clearly angry.
"I cannot answer Alpha." she told him still keeping a straight face. Just than the door opened and Archer walked in with a smile.
"Yes Father?" he asked from the doorway before he saw Amber and Hammer standing there.
"Get in here and shut the door." he demanded full of his Aura, directed directly at his son. Archer was forced to submit by the power of it, and closed the door. Amber refused to look at him as he stepped next to her and faced his father. "Why is this Wolf claiming she cannot answer MY questions because of an order from you?!" he bellowed so loudly it hurt her ears.
The question infused with his Aura forced Archer to drop to a knee, as the fury of the Alpha washed over him. "Because I ordered her." he finally admitted holding his head.
"WHY?!"
Archer fought for several moments to answer the question before his father's command. "Because that wolfless b***h isn't better than me or my team." he finally admitted.
Dominic sat back, allowing his Aura and his Anger to fade. "Well after today, you will never be half as good as she is. For your insubordination you will live for the next year as the lowest warrior of this pack. You are not to speak unless spoken to, and you are not allowed in this pack house until your punishment is served. As such, you are stripped of your rank and title, and must prove yourself worthy of the Honor to lead this Pack. Any questions?" Dominic demanded of him.
Archer hung his head, and knew that he was now in deep s**t. "No father." he replied looking at the floor.
"Your punishment begins as soon as you inform each of these so called friends that they will be reporting to me. So long as I have a say, none of them will ever have a rank inside of this Pack." Dominic yelled before his son went to leave. "Who the f**k told you to move?" he demanded.
Archer stopped dead in his tracks. "No one Alpha." he deadpanned before he looked at his father again.
"Amber, despite what you were subjected too, it is clear what your Rank and Position must be. You will be assigned as an Elite Warrior, specifically to the Elite Guards. Just so you know, once you gain your wolf you will be transitioned to the Royal Army." Dominic told her exactly what she wished to hear. "You are all dismissed."
"Thank you Alpha." she said as she watched Archer run from the office. She swore he could hear a sob escape him as he ran.
"That went better than expected. I always knew there was a reason behind your dramatic drop in the ranks." Hammer said as he smiled at her. "Elite training begins at 0900, if you would like, I could always use some help for the students." he offered her.
"Give me a few days to think on it?" she asked him.
"Of course." he said as they exited the pack house and walked right into the cronies that had followed Archer like they were lost puppies.
"What the f**k? Think you can show us up like that without-" Steven said before the growl from Hammer could be heard.
"The consequences are yours. Each of you is to report to the Alpha at once!" Hammer growled at them.
