MEETING THE RUTHLESS CEO
INT. LÁ LUMIRÈ RESTAURANT Mia Carter moved swiftly through the bustling kitchen of La Lumière, one of the most prestigious restaurants in New York City. The air was thick with the scent of garlic, rosemary, and sizzling butter, but Mia barely noticed. She was too focused on making sure every dish that left the kitchen was nothing short of perfect. Her dream had always been to own her own restaurant—a place where food wasn’t just a luxury but an art, a story told on a plate. But for now, she was stuck working under Chef Ricardo, a perfectionist with a sharp tongue who barely acknowledged her talent. Tonight was one of the biggest nights of the year: the Lancaster Enterprises Annual Charity Gala. Every major billionaire, politician, and socialite in the city would be in attendance, including the infamous Adrian Lancaster—the CEO of Lancaster Enterprises, known as much for his ruthless business tactics as for his icy demeanor. Mia didn’t care about billionaires. To her, they were all the same—privileged, untouchable, and used to getting their way. She had no idea she was about to cross paths with one who would change her life forever. As the waiters rushed in and out, one of them, Liam, stopped near Mia’s station, looking pale. “Mia,” he whispered urgently. “Table Five is complaining about their dish.” Mia barely looked up as she finished plating a lamb dish. “So? Fix it.” Liam shook his head. “It’s him. Adrian Lancaster.” That got her attention. Adrian Lancaster was not just another billionaire—he was the billionaire. He had built his empire before turning thirty, and rumors swirled about how cold and calculated he was. Some said he had never been seen with a genuine smile. Others claimed he could destroy a man’s career with a single phone call. Mia exhaled sharply. “What’s wrong with the dish?” Liam hesitated. “He said it lacks passion.” Mia’s hands stilled. “He said what?” Chef Ricardo overheard and groaned. “Just remake the dish, Mia. The last thing we need is a powerful billionaire badmouthing our restaurant.” But Mia bristled. Who did this Adrian Lancaster think he was, talking about passion? Had he ever spent years working sixteen-hour shifts, pushing himself to exhaustion just to chase a dream? Before she could stop herself, she grabbed a fresh plate and began making her own version of the dish. Not Ricardo’s. Not the restaurant’s signature. Hers. If Adrian Lancaster wanted passion, she’d give it to him. And if he didn’t like it? Well, then his taste buds were broken. Mia stepped out of the kitchen and into the grand dining hall, carrying the dish herself. The moment she laid eyes on him, she understood the rumors. Adrian Lancaster was effortlessly magnetic, with sharp features, a strong jawline, and a presence that demanded attention. He sat at the head of the table, dressed in a tailored black suit, his expression unreadable. Mia didn’t falter. She walked right up to him, ignoring the other guests who had fallen silent. Without waiting for permission, she placed the plate in front of him. “Try this.” The audacity of it stunned the entire table. Adrian’s storm-gray eyes lifted from the plate to Mia. There was no anger, no amusement, just intense curiosity. He picked up his fork and took a bite. A pause. Then another bite. Mia crossed her arms, waiting. Finally, Adrian placed his fork down, tapping his fingers lightly against the table. His lips curved just slightly—not quite a smirk, not quite a frown. “Better,” he said simply. Mia let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “Glad to hear it.” She turned to leave, but Adrian’s voice stopped her. “What’s your name?” She hesitated, then met his gaze. “Mia Carter.” Something flickered in his expression. Something unreadable. “Interesting,” he murmured, mostly to himself. But suddenly, mia did something that shocked everyone. She grabbed a knife from the table and stabbed it right through Adrian's throat. Adrian staggered back screaming in pain. Blood was flowing all over his neck, he used his palms to reduce the flow. "Why did you do that?" He asked, coughing in pain. She smiled, and stabbed him again, before stabbing herself right through the head.
