Chapter Twenty-Eight
Much to Unwin’s relief, the rest of the evening went without any major hiccups.
The local press was there, as arranged, and Unwin made sure that the reporter and photographer were both well supplied with canapés and drinks. Several shots were taken of the board members with the mayor in the middle. Mildred insisted on having one taken with the girls and Unwin, making sure that the photographer was aware of exactly who her husband was.
The Seddon Swans lined up graciously, surrounding their headmistress and fellow teachers. The photographer surreptitiously made sure that he also took several individual shots of the girls, especially Cynthia and Colleen, who were both more than happy to pose for him.
