Marigold Hedges stood in the middle of the stage, with her fellow teachers seated behind her.
Morning assembly at Seddon Academy was a vital part of the day, as far as she was concerned, even when there were no new announcements to make. It was her chance to connect with all her girls at one time.
Marigold had never seen herself as one of those headmistresses who merely acted as a figure-head and spent the majority of their time locked behind their office door.
