FEELINGS & SECRETS

Aurora's alarm clock buzzes, pulling her out of a deep sleep. She groggily opens her eyes and finds her mother standing by her bedside, a worried expression on her face. Mother: "Aurora, wake up! You're going to be late for your first day of school if you don't hurry." Aurora: (rubbing her eyes) "Oh no, Mom! Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" Mother: "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I must have overslept myself. Hurry now, get dressed and have a quick breakfast. You don't want to miss the bus." [Aurora jumps out of bed and rushes to get ready, trying to shake off her sleepiness. She quickly puts on her school uniform and grabs a granola bar for breakfast. As she arrives at the school campus, she notices that it's unusually quiet. There are no other students in sight.] Aurora: (confused) "Am I early or did I miss something?" [She walks towards her classroom, hoping to find her best friend, Asher. As she enters the classroom, her eyes light up when she sees Asher already seated. She rushes over to him, relieved to see a familiar face. Aurora: "Asher, thank goodness you're here! I thought I was the only one in school." Asher: "No worries, Aurora. Looks like we're the early birds today." Just as they settle into their seats next to each other, they notice their friend Nova sitting nearby, a mischievous smile on her face. Nova: (excitedly) "Guess what, you guys? Jasper is in our class!" Aurora's heart skips a beat at the mention of Jasper's name. He has been her secret crush for as long as she can remember, and she never intended to let her friends know about it. She looks around the classroom, hoping to catch a glimpse of him, but he's nowhere to be seen. Despite that, a shy smile spreads across her face. Asher: (noticing Aurora's smile) "Aurora, why are you grinning like a Cheshire cat? Did something happen?" Aurora blushes, trying to hide her excitement. Aurora: "Oh, it's nothing, Asher. I'm just feeling happy today. It's going to be a great day, I can feel it." Asher smiles knowingly, his eyes filled with warmth. Asher: "Well, whatever it is, I'm glad to see you smiling. Let's make this first day of school a memorable one, Aurora." As the classroom fills with the sound of laughter and chatter, Aurora's heart races with anticipation. She can't wait to see Jasper and see what this new school year has in store for her.
