"Hi, can you please give me the patient's date of birth?" The woman at the desk says as soon as I get up there and f***k, I don't know what it is.
"I'm sorry I don't know that information, I'm an emergency contact for her at her daycare and they called me when they couldn't get a hold of her mother," the woman gives me a skeptical look as I feel Charlie start to go limp in my arms. "Look you can do whatever you need to once you admit her, she is 14 months old, she has a fever over 105, hasn't peed today, hasn't had anything to eat or drink, and has a solitary kidney."
"Crap," the woman said before she started typing away and then calling a woman over. "Please go with her, she's our triage nurse, she's going to assess her then determine what needs to be done."
