We got married in a courthouse with no one there but a random witness supplied by the courthouse. None of our friends knew, besides Shannon, and honestly I felt pretty s.hitty about the whole situation. Melissa deserved better, I didn't even have time to get her an engagement ring, we just went and got wedding bands, which she insisted on paying for or said we weren't doing this. I probably could have called her on her bluff but so much of what was happening right now was out of her control I was sure she was feeling extra vulnerable about it. I think I'm going to have to take a page out of Shawn's book once this s.hit has been settled and ask her to marry me for real, with a proper ring and a wedding.
