"It started with verbal abuse, and financial. I didn't recognize that for what it was until therapy either, but I wasn't making my own money anymore and I had to ask him for everything. If he didn't like something I did or I made him mad, he would withhold money from me. Then it escalated from there. The first time he hit me I didn't even know what to do, he left after he did it and I was just alone with my thoughts and was trying to figure out if I should just leave him. I obviously ended up forgiving him, I forgave him every time and it was kind of a mix of things. He made it so easy to believe that he was sorry and that it would never happen again.
